Hope's POV

It's a Friday, and I'm skipping class to watch over the Malivore portal. I'm starting down at the portal thinking about my decision last night. The more I think about it the more I doubt. I don't want to die. I want to be with the girl I love. I want to make the selfish choice. I want to live. My thoughts are interrupted when some call my real name.
"Hope... Andrea... Mikaelson." I turn around and see Lizzie. "What?"
"It's official. I remember everything."
"How? You are literally the only person on the planet who knows that I exist." I try to hug her but she stops me.

"When I woke up from that spell Josie blasted me with, you popped into my messed-up brain like an acid flashback."
"D-did you tell her?" I asked panicked.
"No. The spell she cast did a number on her. She was passed out when I left."
"Okay, that's good." I sigh in relief.
"What?! I was expecting a totally different reaction. Don't you want to be together?" I scoff at her question.
"Of course I do!.... But we can't tell her."
"And why the hell not?" she asks.
"Because... She's happier without me... Happier with Landon" I say. "No she isn't"
"You sure about that Lizzie?" she opens her mouth to speak, but nothing comes out. She sighs. Just then the portal is rumbling. Probably another monster coming.

"Ugh. Not a good time." Lizzie groans. A blind woman wearing 80's comes out coughing. "Who the hell are you?" I ask.
"I'm the Keeper. Ah. And this is gonna be a lot easier than I thought. Welcome to the game." she holds up her right hand, showing a bracelet glowing. Then she disappears in a blink of an eye.
"Well, that was... anticlimactic."
"We have to get to the school to stop her from getting to Landon." I say and we walk to the road. Just then me and Lizzie get hit by a car. We wake uo back to where we were, laying on the ground. "What just happened?" Lizzie asks.
"I think the game just started." I say.

"Okay, let's try this again." I say we walk back to the side of the road.
"So, since we're trapped here, are we ever gonna talk about how you came back from Malivore and decided not to tell any of us?" she asks.
"Sorry. I'm a little busy keeping us from being roadkill." I reply. "Projectium Deflecta" I cast. "That should protect us." we walk on the road and the car hits us again. We're back to where we started.
"I don't think we have magic here." I say.
"Or you just did the spell wrong." Lizzie placr her hand on my shoulder.
"How's that siphoning going?" I ask sarcastic when I feel nothing.
"Okay, fine. There's obviously no magic. And we're in some sort of death maze from hell. And... Why is it the '80s?"

"Speaking of... have you ever played Frogger?" I ask. We go back to the side of the road. This time I take one step forward then go backwards. That seems to activate the car, so it didn't hit us. Though it did get us wet due to the puddle on thr ground. We enter a clothing store to change. Oncr we're done we get out of the dressing room with 80's clothes.
"Acid wash is clearly your thing." I say.
"Right? You kind of look fierce, too."
"Thank you. But now we got to get out of here." I say. "Oh. My hair is still wet." Lizzie grabs the hair dryer and we get electricuted. And we're back to square 1
"Should have seen that one coming." Lizzie says. Our hair now dry. I sigh. This is gonna be a long day.

***

Me and Lizzie make our way to the school, but we always end up getting killed by so out of this world scenarios.
"A land mine? Really? What's wrong with this decade?" I ask.
"Reaganomics? Recreational cocaine? Jams?" Lizzie lists.
"If only there was a secret or-or a clue." I say looking around the area when I spot a sign, that literally says 'Clue Store'
"Unless you see a clue store around here, Hope, then I don't think..." Lizzie turns around catching what I was looking at. "Okay." she shrugs. We ealk over there and when we get in we see the Keeper. "Oh, hey. Looking for something?"

"Yeah. How do we get out of here?" I ask
"And why are we in our grandparents' decade?" Lizzie adds. The Keeper answers our questions and said that we are never getting out of here. And apparently, we die for real when her pet, whatever her pet even is, feeds on us.
"Oh. So glad we stopped in. Let's go." Lizzie says. We step forward but the Keeper gets in front of us. Blocking us.
"There is, um... one... way out. One of you agrees to take my place. Look, I was trapped here once, too, okay? Just like you two, and I... I don't really feel like being the Keeper of the Game, like, forever. So, one of you agrees to wear this bracelet, you get to be the new me. And the other one is set free."
