Josie's POV

What the hell happened? One minute I was with Lizzie and Hope in our room, the next, Hope is gone and me and Lizzie are in a room that looks like ours but older and rustic and without out stuff. Me and Lizzie run around the school, or house, or whatever and we find dad at the common area holding a stake. Dad informs us that we are trapped in the 2017 prison world and that Alyssa is probably the one who trapped us here. Confusingly, Sebastian is here too. When we asked him how he ended up here, he said dad banished him here, with the help of Emma. Lizzie is fuming and grills dad with questions. "How could you?"

"You can yell at me after we arm ourselves." he says frantic walking past Lizzie. I walk up to face him.
"Dad, why do we need weapons so bad?"

"All you need to know is that. we're in danger, and we need to find a way out now." he goes to leave the room but Sebastian blocks him on the way.
"We're in a new world now. Perhaps you are no longer. the one in charge." dad stabs Sebastian on the stomach with the stake he was holding. Sebastian falls to the floor grunting in pain.
"To be clear, my daughters and I are leaving, you are staying behind and yes, I am in charge." my dad says and he leaves the room. Lizzies goes down to help Sebastian while I follow my dad to the library. I see him gathering weapons that are hidden all across the room.
"Dad... This is about Uncle Kai, isn't it? That's why you're so worried? I know this has to be hard for you, but you said. he was desiccated." I remind.

"You don't know what he's capable of. And until I'm positive no one's set him free, I'm not taking any chances" he says "Dad, who could have set him free?" I ask. "I'll explain all that later." he answers vaguely. He grabs a sword behind the books and hands it to me.
"Right now, I need you to go to the meadow and get the Sandclock before anyone else finds it. Then I need you to come back here and hide. And stay hidden." he packs up all his weapons in a bag and goes to leave. I call out to him.
"Dad, this is all my fault. If I hadn't done black magic in the first place, we'd have never been in this mess." I say regretting everything I did. "We all make mistakes." he says simply then he walks away and leaves me alone in the room. I do what my dad said and grab the Sandclock from the meadow and put it in my backpack and go back to the house.

When I get there, Lizzie and Sebastian are gone and someone else is in the house. A girl who used to go to my school, Jade Montgomery, a vampire. She asked me if Lizzie has here too, I lied because I didn't know if I could trust her yet, which was the right choice because when I asked her questions as to why she's here but she tries to eat me. But before she could a middle-aged man stakes her in the heart from behind.
"Come with me if you want to live." I don't know if I can trust whoever he is, but seeing as he just saved my life, I follow him, he leads us to the old mill.
"Welcome. I call it Fort Parker. It's a... it's a bit moldy but also rent-controlled, so I try not to complain. Flavored vodka? It's, uh... It's no Zima, but then again, nothing is." he throws me the bottle and I catch it. He's my uncle. He has to be.

"You're Kai Parker." He fake gasps.
"I am. And you are one of the Saltzman twins. I can smell the Gemini on you. The real question is: are you Linda or, or Joanie?" he asks trying to pull out a blade from his backpack. "I can never tell you two apart." he laughs.
"I'm Josie. Named after my mom, who you killed." I state. Kai rolls his eyes.
"Okay, here we go. Look, technically, I was trying to kill you and your sister." he says pointing his blade to me, he notices what he's doing and throws the blade to the ground. "Uh, but that's all over now, so I say we just move on." he chuckles.
"Move on? You're a monster." I say.
"A monster would have let you die. That vampire who tried to turn you into her own personal Capri Sun? She's the real monster." he defends himself.
