5. the truth

Two months have passed since you last talked to Draco. You started to slowly date around again, trying to get Cedric and Draco out of your mind, but no one is working for you. When Draco sees you with some other guy, the next day he's making out with some girl that craves his attention.
"If he's trying to make me jealous, it's working," you think to yourself.
"But you cut things off."

-THURSDAY-

Your eating your dinner alone when Harry and Alice walk over with exciting news.

Harry: Hey Ana, are you going to the big party this weekend? Everyone is going.
Alice: You have to go Ana, you have been moping around ever since Cedric, you need a night out with friends. Cedric won't be there because he has detention for sneaking out to-
Harry: Nice Alice. Real nice. Tell my sister what her ex boyfriend is doing with his new girlfriend.
Alice: Sorry.
You: Harry, it's okay, I broke it off with him, I could care less what that cheating bastard does. And I might go to the party, I could use a night out to clear my mind. But I have a lot of studies to catch up on.
Alice: You can do that the next day when you are sober. You are going out tomorrow night wether you want to or not. It's the weekend!
You: Well, we'll see.

-THE NEXT DAY-

You're walking down to the great hall for breakfast organizing all of your homework when you run into someone causing you both to fall. All of your homework scatters everywhere.

You: Oh my, I'm so so sorr-
Draco: Fuck, forget it alright.
You: Draco, I really am sorry, I didn't watch where I was walking and-
Draco: I said forget it, okay. Here.

He hands you your homework and walks off rubbing his head from the fall. You gather the rest of your papers and hurry to the great hall. You feel bad for running into Draco and begin to feel bad for cutting things off.
"You did the right thing," your mind tells you.
"But you miss him, he made you happy," your heart tells your mind.
You sit down next to Alice flustered and confused. Alice looks at you with a bite of fruit in her mouth.

Alice: You alright?

You need to tell her what's going on, maybe she can help. Alice stares at you waiting for an answer.

You: We need to talk.

You take her hand and lead her to the bathroom. You look and check all the stalls making sure no one is there.

Alice: Ana, what is going on?

Once the coast is clear, you tell her everything.

You: I'm sorry I haven't told you sooner but I wanted to straighten the shit out and forget about it, and now, he is always coming to mind and I'm even more confused.

Alice stares at you in shock. She doesn't say anything right away and you let her have a minute to soak in the details.

Alice: Wow. Uhm, I understand why you didn't tell me right away and I thank you for telling me now. I don't know Ana, this is serious.
You: I know that. Our parents will kill us if they found out but, he makes me happy, Alice. I felt like shit because of Cedric and he took that away and made me happy.
Alice: Well, when you pushed him away I think you changed him. He hasn't smiled or really talked to anyone in weeks. All he does is drink and is never turning in work. You really must have kicked him where it hurt.
You: Or he felt vulnerable and really showed his true self? I don't know but I feel so guilty and horrible.
Alice: You need to talk to him.
You: Believe me, he wants nothing to do with me.
Alice: You don't know that, maybe he is hurt. But if you want change, either of you, someone needs to start talking.
You: I don't know, we will see.

Both of you walk out of the bathroom and run into Crabbe and Goyle.

Crabbe: Going to the party tonight, Anastasia?
Goyle: You going Alice? We hope so.
You: Yea, we're going.
Goyle: Excellent.
Crabbe: Fantastic.

They walk off and Alice looks at you. You both stick out your tongues and make a gag noise causing you both to laugh as you walk to class.
