"Camille?"

"Camille?"

"Mia.." She whispered.

I tapped Klaus' arm, getting his attention.

"What is it?" He asked as we rushed over.

"Something happened and you're gonna be angry, but Lucien wants you to be angry. He's trying to lure you into a trap."

"What did he do?" I asked.

I lifted her sleeve, taking notice of the huge bite mark. Worry filled my body, thinking about there being no cure for this new strain.

Klaus quickly gathered the others while I helped Camille. She seemed to already be disoriented; not responding to her name, a face full of sweat..

"Hey. Are you all right?" I asked, handing her the cold towel as I sat next to her.

"Yeah. Considering."

"Hold still. This is going to burn." Klaus said before putting the cloth on the bite.

She flinched.

"Ow. Ow, what is that?"

"It's a healing salve. Motherwort. White willow bark. The recipe is over 1,000 years old. It will ease the pain, dull the symptoms, but... it won't stop the infection." Freya told her.

"So I'm screwed."

"We're gonna do everything that we can, Cami."

"Cami, I'm so sorry." Vincent apologized as he entered.

"You should be. This is your fault. It was you who turned Lucien into a beast." Klaus blamed him.

"Klaus. Stop. It's not his fault." Camille said.

"Cami's right. We all need to work together to fix this."

"I think I know how to fix it. Lucien has always been obsessed with me. He made himself like me. My bite is cured by my blood." Klaus spoke.

"Do you think his blood can save her?" I asked.

"It makes sense. Lucien would want that power. Allowing him to lord himself over his victims." Elijah responded.

"Okay, so we got a working theory. Now we gotta test it." Vincent said.

"Lucien's blood is all over my apartment. I sliced him all to hell before I ran."

"Okay, I got this one. Lucien's got no reason to be on the lookout for me." Vincent left.

"Maybe we can use Ella. I mean, she is a Mikaelson witch who carries the wolf gene. We already know that she has healing power. It's worth a try."

They shrugged, agreeing with me.

"Anything?" Elijah asked as Freya inserted the syringe into the bite.

Camille laid in the bed, unconscious. Sweat lined her forehead..

"I've tried everything that I know, including the power that resides in the blood of our niece. The infection has spread everywhere. There's nothing more we can do. Klaus can ease her suffering, but... she won't last much longer."

I shook my head, leaving the room. Camille was always the nicest, innocent human in the room. So pure, unaware of the true evil in the world.

I sat on the floor of Ella's room, playing with her to take my mind off the matter. Footsteps stopped at the door, causing me to look up.

Klaus stared down at me with sorrow. He wore a saddened look, coming to sit next to me.

"I'm sorry, love."

"For?" I inquired.

"Though I seem to blame others, maybe I am to truly blame for Lucien. The course I chose for him did not stick and I should have done better at straightening him up. Now, he's injured Camille.."

"You mean, he killed her! She's going to die, Klaus."

"I know.." He whispered.

We kept quiet, not saying anything else as we watched the happy baby in front of us. She was oblivious to her surroundings, enjoying the soft touch of the teddy bear.

As the day went by, I occupied myself with multiple things until there was nothing left.

I gulped, looking at Camille on the bed as Elijah stopped near me.

"If you wish to say your goodbyes, do so now. Freya says she doesn't have long."

I blinked back tears as he walked off. I sat in the chair, next to her beside, taking her hand in mine.

"You are so amazing, and you didn't deserve this.. You may not want us to but we're going to avenge you. He will pay for what he's done to you.."

The room became suddenly chilly. There was a small wind as words whispered through the air.

"Thank you.."

I smiled, light squeezing her hand and rubbing her hair.

"Be free, beautiful. No more pain. No more heartbreak. You will find peace..."

I sighed, sniffling as I heard her take her last breath.

Her body slowly turned grey, her hand going limp in mine. A sob forced it's way out as I continued to rub her hair.

"You know, I've been thinking how my little girl is never gonna know you. It's not fair, considering everything that you did for her dad. I mean, sometimes I can't stand him but I always figured, he couldn't be that bad since he was such a good friend to you.. This family owes you. You deserved better.."
