"What is it?" I asked Ella as she suddenly got excited, happily bouncing in my lap.

I followed her direction of sight, seeing Elijah standing at a nearby tree. He smiled as he stepped closer to us, his eyes never leaving hers.

"I didn't know you were coming today." I admitted.

"Yes, well, I do have some matters to take care of. Have you seen Hayley?"

"Yeah, she's inside."

He nodded, squeezing Ella's hand as he went past. I bounced my fussy baby, going over to one of the older wolves I'd grown close to.

"Linda, hi. How'd you sleep?" I asked, remembering her night troubles.

"Ask the wolf. She was up all night."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I know you've been trying to get some rest.."

"It's okay.. I enjoy spending my nights with Ella, anyway. She knows how to have a good time." Linda said, widely smiling as she tickled Ella's feet.

My heart fluttered watching her uncontrollably giggle. I looked around to the many wolves I'd been cohabitating with.

I didn't like the weird vibe the compound gave off so I'd decided to stay in the Bayou. Not exactly safer but we're comfortable, despite the stubborn shifters. Some of them knew me from my parents while others were cautious of me, not sure where I was from.

"Hey, Linda!" Cooper called from meters away.

"Excuse me.." Linda whispered, walking away.

"Who does this belong to?" I asked Elijah once I entered the cabin, referring to the blood on his suit.

"One of three idiots who tried to come after my niece. They are no longer breathing." Elijah confessed, smirking.

"You went up against three witches?"

"Witches? Darling, no, they were vampires."

"So no one was a witch?" I inquired to make sure my conclusions were correct.

"No.. What does this have to do with any witches?"

"Klaus said the people after Ella were witches. They want to end her before she ends them."

"No. These are minions brainwashed into working for my Aunt Dahlia. She is the one after the child."

I looked at him, confused before rolling my eyes. He protested that he had things to do but I ignored him, placing Ella in his arms.

"You weren't going to tell me that the witches hunting our daughter are with your Aunt Dahlia? What the hell, Klaus!?" I yelled, punching Klaus in the chest once I was close enough.

He grabbed my arms, pinning me to the cold, hard wall. Feeling his breath on my neck, a piece of me was thankful for the empty compound.

"I suggest you keep your hands to yourself, love. You don't want to lose them."

"Stop with the empty threats and answer my question." I demanded.
