Mia leaned against the wall, closing her sweater as she watched her daughter, Ella, play with the other babies.
"Mia, hi." Jenay, the birthday boy's mom, greeted her.
"Hey. How are you doing?"
"I'm good. Ryan's on his way here with the ice cream."
"Uh oh.. that's a bad idea."
"Tell me about it. You know, I said..."
Mia tuned her out, staring down the street. She could hear the heavy breathing of a man walking.
Blowing it off as someone random, she focused back on Jenay, nodding.
"I said, you're kidding me, right?" She burst out laughing.
Mia faked a laugh with her before clearing her throat. A gust of wind suddenly blew past Jenay; she shrieked, feeling the cold juice on her legs.
"Who did that!?" She shouted, turning to the others.
Mia looked across the street, seeing a familiar, devilish smirk. With the blink of an eye, he was gone.
"Ella, come here sweetheart."
She quickly went to pick her up, grabbing her bag and saying bye to the other parents. The drive home was almost silent, Mia's thoughts filled with many questions.
She wasn't surprised to see his face. Sooner or later he would've found them. As she knew it, he would stop at nothing to get what he wants.
Once safely in their home, Mia settled Ella in her crib with a fresh bottle then went back to the kitchen. As she cleaned the messy kitchen, Klaus smiled, watching her.
Stress cleaning.. something she'd always done. He made his way to the front door, knocking as if he was a neighbor.
Mia dropped the sponge in the sink, drying her hands. Her mind wondered who it could be; probably Willa, the overly friendly neighbor.
"Hello, love." The familiar, sulky voice spoke, pushing the door open once the knob twisted.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, looking to him as he leaned against the door frame.
"Me? I'm doing just fine, a little tired though. Why? You might ask. It's been quite the journey trying to find where you ran off to."
"I left for a reason, Klaus."
"Care to enlighten me?" He smirked.
"No, and you need to go."
"What's the rush? Let's play a little game of catch up. Did you like my cup trick with your friend?" He asked, lowly chuckling at the woman's reaction.
"That was rude and mean.. she did nothing to you. I mean, how did you even find me?"
"That is not an important matter. If there is something you need to tell me, say it now."
"What are you talking about?" She inquired, playing dumb.
He smirked, dropping his head. His chuckles filled the room as he slowly stepped inside, shutting the door behind him.
