I adjusted the bag on my shoulder as I tightened my jacket. It was suddenly very cold outside, despite the forecast reporting warm weather.

I pushed open the front door, instantly going up the stairs to see my daughter. Klaus slightly bounced her as he walked around the room.

"Hi, baby." I greeted her as she smiled.

I coughed into my elbow before taking Ella out his arms. Her smile dropped, her eyes deeply staring at me. Klaus bit his lip, seductively eyeing me.

"Just because we had sex, doesn't mean it's happening again."

"We shall see, love."
He said, smirking.

I continued to cough, suddenly feeling lightheaded. Klaus eyed me, taking Ella into his arms.

"Why is it so hot in here?" I asked, taking off my jacket, stumbling over my feet before everything went black.

Slowly awaking, my eyes fluttered open, instantly looking around. I winced at the uncomfortable dining room table under me as my eyes landed on a figure approaching.

"You've got to be shitting me." I groaned, looking at Mikael.

He smirked, speeding over and putting me into a headlock.

"Welcome to my hell, stuck in an eternity of watching over that hideous creature my children call brother!"

My wolf activated; my eyes shining blue before I pushed myself out of his grip and twisted his arm behind his back, breaking it.

"It's been years, Mikael. He is your son, get over yourself!" I breathed out, holding my fists up, putting distance between us.

"He is not my son! He's a scourge, a walking symbol of weakness! You do him no good, only enhancing his weakness. I should've killed you when I had the chance."

"Come and get it, pops." I joked, breaking off a piece of the bannister to use as a stake then jumping onto the second floor balcony.

He suddenly jumped onto the second floor, lunging at me. I dodged the big man, jumping down to the first floor with him following.

Rushing behind him, he yelled out in pain as I pierced his heart with the stake.

"At least my daughter has an advantage Klaus never had-- she will never, ever know you." I said before my eyes popped open, now meeting Klaus'.

I looked at the nearby mirror, touching the blood that covered my mouth and neck. Elijah helped me up, while Klaus occupied a curious Ella.

"Your father is a lunatic." I told them.

"What?" Elijah spoke in disbelief.

"Yeah. Mikael tried to kill me."

Their faces wore a look of concern before Elijah sped off and Klaus huffed.

"You're moving in. I have no times for games or either of you getting hurt."

"Klaus." I objected.

"This is not a discussion! She is my daughter, too."

"That's the problem, isn't it? The only reason our daughter is in danger is because of you. All the murder and deceit that your name holds. The enemies, the bloodshed, the families ripped apart; there are too many people who want revenge on you for doing that to them and I will not allow anything to happen to my daughter!" I slightly raised my voice.

Klaus stood silent, looking at the smiling baby in his arms.

"Come with me. I want to show you something."

I deeply sighed, rolling my eyes as I followed the hybrid. He led me down the hall, opening the door to one of the junky rooms. A small gasp left my lips seeing the well-decorated nursery.

"Our daughter should be raised by her parents, in her family home. I do understand the danger I play a part in, in being in her life but she is my daughter. I will protect her until my last breath." He truthfully spoke.

I smiled at him, kissing his cheek and taking a sleeping Ella out of his arms. Klaus slowly followed me, stopping to stare as I laid her down, admiring my beautiful baby.

"You said you saw my father.." He lowly spoke.

"Yeah.. Why do you call him that? He's not your real dad, you know?"

Klaus chuckled.

"He's done damage only a father could do. Is everything okay?" He asked, noticing my anxiousness.

"They tried to kill me to get to Ella, Klaus.. What, they figure that if I'm not there to protect her, they have an easy way in?"

Klaus laughed, shaking his head.

"Idiots.. they clearly don't know who I am. Isn't that right, love?" He gloated.

"Oh, you mean, a sociopath who only has a soft spot for his daughter?"

He gasped, shaking his head.

"Of course not, love. I have a spot for both of you." He replied, coming behind me.

He peered over my shoulder, admiring our creation.

"I will protect you both with my life.."

"Whatever it takes?" I questioned. He wrapped his arms around my waist, kissing behind my ear.

"Whatever it takes.."
