Part 23

Later that afternoon,
Johnny pulled over outside Hayden's house

"Thanks for the ride." Hayden said

Johnny looked at him, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

"Then why have you been so miserable since you and Annie talked? You were the happiest I've ever seen you 20 minutes before." Johnny said

"I'm fine, Johnny." Hayden told him

"Annie lied. She's pregnant, isn't she?" Johnny asked him and Hayden looked at him "Fuck! Asher was so relieved that she wasn't pregnant."

"Yeah... you can't tell Asher."

"What's she gonna do about it?" Johnny asked

"She's not sure yet." Hayden said "You should go. You've got that dinner to make for your mom."

"Oh, yeah. I'll call you later, tell you how it goes." Johnny said

"Yeah, talk to you later." Hayden said as he opened the car door and picked up his bag

"Hey, where's my kiss?" Johnny joked

Hayden smiled slightly before he leaned over and kissed him
Johnny watched Hayden get out of the car

"Stalker."

"What?" Hayden asked, looking down at him

"I love you." Johnny told him "And if there's something wrong... you know you can tell me, right?"

"I know. Love you too." Hayden said before he shut the door

Johnny watched him walk up to his front door and go inside before he drove away

Johnny pulled into his driveway and walked inside.
He looked into the living room and saw his mom watching TV. He went into the kitchen and saw Claire making two cups of tea

"You alright?" She asked Johnny

"Yeah... could you stay another hour or so? I wanna cook my mom a special meal and I don't want to be ruin it by having to help her do stuff. I'll pay you obviously."

"Yeah, course. Gives me something to do." Claire said

An hour later,
Johnny had finished cooking and Claire had just left.
He went into the living room

"Dinner's ready." He told his mom

"What's this s-special dinner?" Grace asked as they went into the dining table

"You're favourite. Steak."

"Why?" Grave asked him

"I just want to do something nice for you." Johnny said before he picked up a bottle of wine and poured two glasses "Just give me two minutes."

Johnny went into the kitchen and came back in a few minutes later with two plates of food

Johnny's mom looked at him after they finished eating

"That was r-really nice." She said

"I try my best." Johnny said with a smirk

"So h-how's the play coming a-along?" Grace asked him

"Good. Me and the drama teacher, Mrs Hinslet, have nearly finished the script, just need to do the last scene, then we're good to start rehearsing." Johnny told her "You still wanna come watch it, right?"
