Later that night,
Johnny went downstairs in a t shirt and shorts and looked into the living to see his mom watching TV.
He went into the kitchen and saw Grey cooking spaghetti bolognese

"Don't you have a family to be with?" Johnny asked him

Grey looked at him, "Yeah... and I'm with them."

"I'm being serious."

"Claudia's on a business trip for the weekend. She likes to have the kids with her." Grey told him "I normally go with them, but I'd rather be here."

"You'd rather be in a house that's falling apart, with your disabled ex girlfriend from 17 years ago and your estranged son than be in a 5 star hotel with your wife and children?" Johnny said

"Yeah... I would. Your mom said I could stay the weekend."

"Did she? Why would you want to?" Johnny asked

"Because believe it or not, Johnny, but I care about you. Both of you. And when you came into my life, I swore I would make both your lives as easy as I can."

"And what're you gonna do while you're here?"

"You know, make food for us all, do chores. Help you look after your mom, help you with your homework." Grey said

"Sorry about earlier. I know you're just trying to help."

"It's fine." Grey said "So what's this about you having sex with your mom's carer?"

"It's... it's nothing. It was ages ago. Mom set us up after Claire broke up with her boyfriend." Johnny said "But she wasn't looking for anything serious, so we just hooked up a few times. She got back with her boyfriend after a few weeks anyway. And they're engaged now."

"And she's pregnant..."

"It's not mine!" Johnny said quickly "She's only a few weeks gone and we haven't done it in like 7 months."

"Good. So are her and your mom close?" Grey asked

"Yeah. Really close. My mom sees her as a daughter she never had. Actually, thinking about it, that might've been why I couldn't get it up..." Johnny said to himself

"What?"

"Uh, nothing." Johnny laughed before his phone started ringing "It's my mom's doctor."

"Well answer it then." Grey told him

Johnny answered the phone, "Hey, Dr Winters... yeah, that's great! Can you just tell me now and I'll tell her?... Oh, right... thanks. I'll come in next week. Thank you."

Grey watched him hang up

"What was that about?"

"Uh... she said they've found out what's wrong with my mom." Johnny said

"That's good, isn't it?"

"Yeah, its great. But... she's got early onset Huntington's disease." Johnny said

"Huntington's... but that's-"

"Genetic, I know. I might have it... I'm going to the hospital in the week to get tested." Johnny said

"Do you wanna tell your mom?" Grey asked

"No. I don't want to worry her before I know if I have it. I'll tell her once I know."

Grey walked over to him and hugged him

"It'll be alright." He told Johnny "Did your grandfather have it?"

"I dunno. My grandma might've had it, but since she died young, they might not have noticed. But they might've both had the carrier gene and when they had my mom, the genes came together or something, I dunno."
