Rachel's p/v
I woke up early this morning so I didn't have to see Darry's stupid face. I told Quinn everything that happened. She invited me for breakfast at her place but I didn't wanna risk getting double grounded. I was so eager to give Darry another reason to ground me but reality shook me to the core. I'm going to make every second with Tyler count like there's no tomorrow.

Instead of breakfast, I'm in the school bathroom trying to control my breathing. I'm not ready to see Mary, let alone her birthday outfit. Let me guess, a dress and crystal heels? My outfit isn't comparable, I already know it. I didn't even try to look cute, I just quickly threw something on. My brain isn't in the right head space to look cute. Sweats and a hoodie will do.

"Your brother is one strange man. Who would willingly hang out Mary?"
I shake my orange juice. "Right! On top of that, he grounded me. I won't be able to go on any dates with my Tyler!"
Declan clears his throat. I smile.
"And I won't be able to hang out with you!"
"Why did he ground you though? Is it because you stood up to him?"
"I left the house without his permission. I was literally with Mrs. Holt, she was helping me with my relationship problems. I left him a text explaining my side of the story, but he just left me on read."
"You guys always argue but make up at the end of the day. I wouldn't be too worried, I'm sure he'll reconsider when he gets time to reflect."
"Not this time. Although he told me through a note, I can tell he was dead serious. All I need is Mary spinning on tables to complete the worst week of my life."
"Well she's not spinning on tables, I can tell you that much."

I turn around. Mary is in the cafeteria line with Jonathan. She just picked up a breakfast burrito. Her fucking outfit is better than I expected.

70s vintage white gunne sax prairie dress with pink blue little flower print all over, a sweetheart neckline, ribbon and lace detail along the bust and hem. The dress is too long to see her shoes but I can sorta see a baby blue block heel situation. She has her beautiful dress paired with a white fur coat, silver jewelry, and a white pearl mini purse. Does the lost and found have gunne sax dresses?

Darry's p/v
"You don't understand, these heels are killing me! Never buy heels from a vintage warehouse ever again."
"Hey." I whisper into Mary's ear. She turns around and greets me with a grin.
"Hey Darry, I didn't expect to see you here so early in the morning."
"I have an important reason, but first comes first is your birthday gift. Happy birthday." I hand her a bouquet of flowers.
"Aww, thank you so much! How did you know lotus's are my favorite flowers?"
"I just kinda guessed. Is that a gunne sax dress you're wearing?"
"Yes! Are you a fan of these dresses as well?"
"Not really, I just remember Rachel obsessing over them when she was a kid. We saw a quinceañera rocking one of them, very similar to yours actually."
"That's so sweet. I too obsessed over them when I was a little girl. I got this baby on Poshmark."
"Good website for vintage clothing."
"I'll say."
"Hello to you too, Darry."
"Sorry, Jonathan, I was just hooked by Mary's dress," I look back at her, "You're beautiful."
"Thank you. You said you were here for a reason, what is it?"
I look over at Rachel. She's with Declan. I can't make her even more upset than she might be. I mean, she left the house early. No, I can't bother her.
"It's not that important, I'll deal with it later."
"Do you want to come with us to Mrs. Holt's room? Jonathan and I are going to pitch some ideas to her."
"Yeah, I'm down. What are the ideas?"
"It involves Christmas break. We'll discuss the details with her."
"For sure. Lead the way, birthday girl."
Mary throws her trash away and walks towards the door, Jonathan and I following behind her. I catch up to her and walk beside her. I accidentally lock eyes with Rachel. She looks at Declan and starts talking to him. So much for not making things worse.
