Rachel's p/v
I woke up with a sore neck and I am not happy. I just want to lay in bed all day but nooooo it HAS to be new year's eve. Last day of 2019 and I've made this very clear, I'm not excited. For many reasons actually. For starters, my neck is in extreme pain. I don't know what I did, I think I slept wrong. Second of all, I have to spend new year's eve with Mary. Ok, well I don't have to, but Bowie is hosting a party at his place and it would be stupid if I didn't go. Darry is bringing Sabrina so at least Mary will stay far far away from us.
Darry knocks on my bedroom door.
"Come in." I yell.
He opens the door and walks over to my dresser. "Bowie asked if we could bring some drinks. You coming to the store or what?"
"Sure just let me change, geez."
"You're out of your pajamas, what more are you going to change?"
"I need to look presentable!"
"No time, I promised Kyle we would hang for a little bit."
"Oh c'mon, I was planning on napping."
"Today? Yeah, you're crazy girl. I'll meet you in the car."I grab a pencil from my desk and begin stabbing my neck with it. If acupuncture won't come to me then I'll go to it. And what's up with Darry's attitude? Not my fault I gotta look presentable. Whatever, my black hoodie and blue mom jeans will have to do. My NEW blue mom jeans becagse my last pair just HAD to get a hole in the crotch.
"What kind of drinks do you think they want?" Darry asks me.
"Coca Cola and Sprite."
"I'm gonna go with Canada Dry and Fruit Punch."
"Then why the fuck did you ask me?"
"What's up with you?"
"No, what's up with you? I can feel your tensity."
"I'm just nervous for the new year, that's all."
"What happened to positive vibes and new beginnings? My excuse is that I'm simply tired."
"Because you go to bed at like 3 am. Your new years resolution should be to fix your sleeping schedule."
"You're only saying that because you sleep at 10, you grandpa."
"That is correct."We turn the corner and walk into the snack aisle. Just what I needed to complete my day, Mary is here! I don't know who got her thinking she can follow us but she needs to back the fuck up. And I hate that she looks cute too! If only Darry gave me time to freaking change clothes.
She's wearing a a dark blue denim button down jacket, dark blue denim straight leg jeans, red brown docs, and a dark brown purse that reaches to her hip, well the strap is long. Is her new year's resolution to copy Britney Spears or something?
"Didn't expect Mary to be here." I say.
"Why?"
"I thought she shopped at rich grocery stores."
"What's the difference?"
"The way the inside looks."
Darry shortly laughs. I lean against the cart. Mary is holding a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a candle in the other. Right now she's looking at the chip bags. What kind of new year parties does she go to?Darry's p/v
"We should check out the stuff now. Can we please let Mary see us?"
I frown. "What for?"
"To remind her that you chose my side. No one can tear siblings apart."
"I see where you're coming from but I think you should avoid her. We can't have another fight between you guys in public."
"You know what's crazy? I was genuinely terrified that you weren't going to believe me or defend me. I'm sorry I ever doubted you." Rachel hugs me. My little sister not having faith in me is so damn sad. Am I really that bad of a brother? And would it make me a worser one if I said I really wanted to talk to Mary?Mary's p/v
I'm going to pretend like I didn't see Darry. Darry, who even is he? My expectations of not seeing him until school starts again was bursted when Bowie invited me to his party. I'm not missing that party, but I just don't want to run into Darry. And here I am, running into him at the freaking grocery store. But he didn't see me, and I didn't see him. Well would you look at that, 2 for $5 chips.Rachel's p/v
I grab my phone from my bed. "What are you wearing to Bowie's party?"
"I'm not sure. Probably a blazer or something."
"We should coordinate our outfits!"
"Oooh, I'm down. What color scheme?"
"You pick."
"Do you want to do black?"
"Ah, anything else?"
"If I'm being honest I'm kind of sick of my clothes right now. How about we go our separate ways with the outfits?"
"Aw, ok."
"I-" Tyler's voice cuts off.
"Tyler? Tylerrrrr?"
His phone probably died. But he said it was charging? Oh well. Gives me more time to get ready.
