Rachel's p/v
"The yellow off the shoulder top? Are you sure it's not going to freeze my ass off."
"Beauty is pain, Rachel. You should've seen me in a Canada two years ago. Brown gingham 60s dress and black go-go boots; it was perfect for my father's retro themed birthday."
"I don't remember my dad's birthday. I wish I could forget my mom's."
"Do you and Darry celebrate it?"
I sit on my bed. "Nope. We don't even mention it. That lady does not need to be celebrated. It's funny, I talk so much crap about her but all I want is for her to come back. Darry on the other hand never wants to see her ever again."
"Why allow toxicity back in your life when it's going to hurt you again. All the qualities in a mother you can find in a best friend. Jasmine for example, you confine in her a lot don't you."
"I sure do. Sage was actually the one who acted more like a mom, but ever since we entered sophomore year we've done nothing but ghost each other. Declan says I should move on but it's hard."
"I bet. Hate to admit it, but a lot of my ex friends were Tyler's first. Jonathan thinks I only dated Tyler to become popular, but that was just one of the benefits. Logically, it all ended."
"We need to cover you in salt."
"Is that a sacred practice."
"No clue."
Mary giggles. "I'm going to miss talking to you in the mornings."
"Me too. The mornings just won't be the same without you picking out my outfit."
"And you asking me where I got every single piece."
"Not to copy! I'm just genuinely into your style."
"I appreciate it. Let's get you dressed before Darry can say anything about us taking 2 years."
"Right, he's so dramatic-"
"YOU GUYS HAVE TWO MORE SECONDS!" Darry yells from outside my room. Mary grabs my pillow and slams the door. He lets out a scream. Her and I burst into laughter. If only we had a whiteboard and chalk.

Tyler kisses me on the lips. "You look adorable, love. Mary can wear that outfit a million times but you illuminate it better."
I blush. "Too obvious that she picked it out for me?"
"Only because she's worn a variation of it. See love, she's not original to herself. Besides, I like how we're matching."

I'm wearing my yellow off the shoulder puff sleeve top, dark blue flared jeans, black opaque tights, red heels, and my red knitted cross body bag. Tyler is wearing a black leather jacket, yellow/white ringer tee, black loose Levi jeans, black docs, and a black beanie. If anything this is reminiscent of that one outfit Mary wore after our first "you're copying me" fight. At least they're not matching today?
"All groovy, love?"
I smile at him. "Very. We have to go over songs for the assignment, right?"
"If we want to be ready by Thursday. Are you sure you want to go on the first day? We can totally do Friday."
"The performance will come naturally to us. All we need is the love we have for each other."
"I love the way you think. Let's get started then." He sits on the bench and pats his thigh. I eagerly sit on his lap and wrap my arms around his neck.
"So I'm thinking we do a 70s song. Elton John ring any bells?"
"Don't Go Breaking My Heart?"
"Yes, smart girl! A little basic but that's why we must go on the first day. It's literally one of our songs."
"Can we dress in 70s attire? Let's go shopping together!"
"I love your brain so damn much. Alright, homework is over. Got any plans for spring break?"
"It seems so far away. I have given it a thought though. The water is just what I need."
"I want the water too! Not just some random beach, somewhere beautiful."
"Your blue eyes?
"My heart is blushing. I got it! Why don't we go to Cabo?"
"Where is that?"
"In Mexico. Just you and me, the sand in our hair."
"And Darry observing our every move. He would never let us go by ourselves."
"That's reasonable. Then he can come with Hector or Nigel. Is Cabo added to the list?"
"I think it's the only thing on the list. Now that's all I can think about."
"Me too. Let's make out so time goes by faster."
I giggle and kiss him on the lips. School bell don't rain on us now.

Darry's p/v
Mary asked if I could stick around for the morning. I was going to ask Hector about Lottie but my unofficial girl comes first. The day I get to call her my girl is the day she will be the proud owner of whatever present she's been wanting.
