Chad's POV
Waking up I look at the alarm clock next to my bed and see that it's 8 am. I pull the blankets off me and head to the bathroom. I have a quick shower before walking back to my room to get changed.
The Armani suit is sitting in the closet wrinkled free. Putting it on the bed I go through the drawer to find a pair of briefs and put it on. Then I put on the suit and black shoes.
My phone goes off and I look at it.
Sebastian: I'm coming to the office to have lunch with my wife. What do you want me to order?
Me: Sushi. It's been a while since I've had that.
Sebastian: Alright, I'll see you at 1 pm.
Me: Bye,
I put my phone in my back pocket before grabbing my keys off the hook next to the front door.
Heading out the door I lock up before making my way to the elevator. I press the button and wait for it to come to my floor.
When the doors open a couple walk out and they're kissing. The girl looks up at me. "Hey, you're the guy that lives across from us. I'm Bianca and this is Diego."
"It nice to meet you both. I'm Chad. I'll see you around." I enter the elevator and it takes me down to the basement.
As soon as the doors open I hurry to my BMW and climb in. I reverse out of the parking spot and head in the direction of my parent's place. When their property comes into sight I pull into the driver wag and enter the pin into the gate and it opens. I drive to the house.
At the house, the front door opens and Mom steps out wearing a gown and her hair is sticking up all over the place. There are bags under her eyes.
I just saw her yesterday. Has something happened to Dad?
"Mom," I open the car door and hurry over to her. Wrapping my arms around her I say. "Is everything okay?"
"No," tears begin to fall down her face. "You're father got sick last night and I spent the night taking care of him."
"What can I do for you, Mom? I want you to call me anytime during the day and at night. I'll be there for you."
She touches my face. "I love you, Chad. Would you be able to fill your fathers prescription? And next week your father has an appointment."
"I'll take you to the appointment. Would be alright if I sat in on them too. I want to know everything that's going on with him."
"Okay, I'll send you the information tonight. Let me run inside and get the prescription." She opens the door to the house and I follow her inside.
"I'm going to see Dad." I walk up the grand stairs to the second floor and continue down the hall until I reach the wooded door at the end. Turning the handle I step into the room.
"Water," Dad rasps out. Walking over to the jug I pour him a cup of water. I hold it for him as he drinks. "What are you doing here, Chad? I didn't want you to see me like this."
"I came by to see how you are. You being healthy or sick isn't going to change our relationship, Dad. I'll be here for you no matter what."
A slight smile appears on his face. "You're mother and I raised a great, man. One that I hope gets married before I pass away. Please, tell me there's a girl that's captured your eyes?"
"There is. She doesn't know how I feel, but for now, I should keep it to myself.
"Does this girl have a name? Or is she related to your best friends wife?"
I don't reply to my father as he's already hit the nail with the hammer. "Can we talk about something else, please? I don't want to discuss my lack of a love life."
Dad starts laughing and then it turns into him coughing. His face turns a red colour and I grab the water and give it to him.
When he calms down he says. "You still like to make me laugh. Even when I shouldn't. Chad, I don't want you to put your life on hold by taking care of me with your mother. I've seen the effects it's had on Eliza and her mother."
"How do you know about that?"
He looks around the room not making eye contact with me. "The last time I saw Kat I asked for her mother's number as I wanted to ask her something and she gave me the answers I needed at the time."
"Like, what?"
"That it's best for my son not to give up his life to take care of me. Amadene is great full for everything her daughter has done, but she also wanted her to enjoy life. She thinks in some ways that it would have been better if she died so that Eliza didn't stop living. With her being in the city things might change for her."
Mom walks through the door with papers in her hands. "These are the prescriptions. Come by after work to drop them off."
Standing up I take it from Mom. "I'll see you both tonight. I'll bring dinner." I kiss my father's cheek. "Stay out of trouble."
A smile spreads across his face. "You're a real comedian today, son. Don't forget to drive by Sebastian's and check on the girl."
Looking at the clock on the nightstand I say. "I can't check on her. I'm running late for work and I better make a phone call to Kat." I pull my phone out of my pocket and Kat.
The phone rings a couple of times before she answers.
Kat: Hello, this is Kat.
Me: Hi, Kat. Did I miss anything this morning?
Kat: You had a meeting set up with a Justine Klein, but I rescheduled that appointment for next week. I told her a family emergency occurred and that you're unavailable.
Me: Thanks, Kat. This is why I keep you on as my secretary.
Kat: No, you don't. You keep me on because I know all problems. How's your father doing today?
How does she know about my father?
I walk out of the bedroom and close the door behind me. Lowering my voice I say.
Me: He's not feeling one hundred perfect. I never thought I'd see my father like this. You know it's painful to see him like this.
Kat: I know. I thought the same thing when my Mom was sick. If you need someone to talk to about all this you should.
Me: You mean I should talk to Eliza?
Kat: Yes,
Me: Does she know about my father?
Kat: No, she closed the pool house door once Seb was talking about you. She wants to allow you to talk to her about what's going on. She's the type that prefers to hear things from the source's mouth and not someone else.
Me: She's a smart woman. I'll see you in the office soon. I'm just about to leave my parents place.
Kat: Drive safe, boss.
Me: Bye,
Kat: Bye,
Hanging up I walk back into the bedroom. "Bye, Mom and Dad."
"Bye," my parents say at the same time.
