Shattered Part II - 42

The car comes to a stop in front of the hospital. The driver steps out and opens the door for us. Kat climbs out first, followed by me and then Chad. Chad puts his hand on the small of my back as we make our way into the hospital.

When Mom sees the way I'm with Chad she's going to know something is going on between us. she's the type of person that doesn't miss a thing when it comes to her children and their happiness.

Pulling my phone out of my purse I send Dad a message.

Me: Where are you?

Dad: The Emergency waiting room. Are you here?

Me: Yes, Kat and Chad are with me.

Dad: Chad? As in Sebastian's best friend?

Me: Yes,

Dad: Is there something going on between you?

Me: We've been hanging out. I'm not ready to put a label on anything yet, but I like him.

Dad: I'm happy for you. are you going to properly introduce us to him tonight.

My face turns red as I look at that part of the message.

Chad and Kat look at me and then chad asks. "Is everything okay?"

A smile spreads across my face. "Dad wants a proper introduction with you, Chad. I told him we were hanging out."

He hugs me. "I'm glad you told him that. It's important not to keep secrets from your family. do you think any of your siblings will be here?"

Kat shakes her head. "They weren't close to Frank like we were. Our brothers were already out of the house. While I was about to leave, but he thought it would best if I knew how to protect myself when I went away to college. Do you remember when I first met Sebastian and you?"

Chad throws his head back and laughs. "How can I forget the first time we met you. you kicked our asses because we followed you on your run. You had a feeling that someone was following. One moment you were in the line of our sight and the next you were gone. As soon as we got to a set of tree's you jumped out. punched Sebastian in the face, flipped him over your shoulder and put your foot on his chest. Then you demanded 'why are you following?' Sebastian was the one that spoke up from the ground. Telling you he thought you were hot and he wanted to get to know you. that was the moment my best friend fell head over heels for you. from that day the two of you were inseparable. I'm glad we ran into you the first day of Freshman year."

I wish she told me this story. It's great the way she met the two men that are changing our lives for the better.

Crossing my arms I look at my sister. "You never told me this part of the story. How you met Sebastian and Chad, due to Frank's training."

She laughs. "I need to keep some secrets to myself. I've thanked him for the training for years. We've even started practice again. When he found out that I had kids he wanted me to be able to protect them and myself. He's been taking things easy on me since I got pregnant. he was asking about you recently. I wasn't sure if you'd be ready to do something like this with me."

"When Frank is back to full health we'll do the training with him. Who looks after the store when he's training you?"

She looks towards the door that separates us from our parents. "He has a daughter, Tammy. She's an ex Seal. When she left them she tracked her father down and they've formed a close relationship."

I didn't know this. I'm happy that he has a child. He deserves to have a relationship with him.

A girl with blonde hair runs through the doors and she looks distressed. She heads straight to the check-in window. "Do you have any updates on my Father Frank Bishop?"

The woman types on the computer. "I'm sorry. there are no updates, He's in surgery right now. There's also family in the waiting room you should join them."

"I'm his only..." her eyes look over at Kat and she stops what she's saying. "Never mind. I know who's there." She walks over to us and hugs Kat. "I'm glad you're here. Does that mean your father is here too?"

"Yes, he's in the waiting room."

"Great," her eyes land on me and a smile spread across her face. "You must be. Eliza. I've heard so much about you from my father and yours. They both are so proud of you. However," her eyes land on Chad. "I don't know who you are. I'm just hoping that you're not the fuckwit douche bag of a Lawyer who doesn't know how to stand up for himself."

Chad narrows his eyes at her. "I'm not that fuckwit douche bag of a Lawyer you're talking about. Do you think Eliza would take him back after all the shit he's put her through? No, well good. I'm Chad Whitehall."

"Oh," her mouth drops open. "You're the guy that has the huge billboard plastered over the city advertising property development?"

"Yes, the one and only. I'm glad you know who I am now. Shall we all wait with the Donoghue's?"

Tammy opens the door and we walk through them. she heads straight to my father and talks to him for a moment. Then takes a seat while Dad moves over to us.

Dad hugs Kat. "I'm glad you came, Kat. I know you've been practising with him and I'm proud that you want to continue the training while being pregnant. this year is blessed. we're going to have four new babies come into the family and the first one from Eliza and Nina."

Mom stands up and she moves towards me. she throws her arms around me, hugging me. "Hi, Eliza. You haven't called me in a couple of days and you've spoken to your father twice in one day."

"mom you know that I have to live my life. during the days I haven't called I've been thinking about picking up the phone to see how you're doing. I swore to myself that I would give us time apart. To get used to being apart. The truth is I hate not being able to come to you for advice and to see you around the corner when I wake up and go to sleep. I'm looking for a house and I think I'm close to getting one. One that dad and you can move into with me. it will have a pool house. Where the two of you will have privacy. At the same time, we'll be able to see each other every day."

Dad pulls her into his arms and he looks at me. "We're selling the house and it's been on the market for a week. People are interested in buying it, but we can't sell it to them without knowing what's happening with us first."

"I'll have the answer to you in a couple of days. I have to put in an offer for a house I like." Looking at Dad I add. "Mom, Dad this is Chad. We've been hanging out since I got to town."

Mom looks between us and a smile spreads across her face. "You look so happy, Eliza. This is the happiest I've ever seen you. you weren't like this when you were with Austin. I approve of whatever happens between the two of you."

Dad holds his hand out to Chad. "If you intend to marry my daughter I want you to come to me first and ask for permission. That's all I want from you. Also, keep her safe and make sure her future is brighter than one she would have had with that brainless Lawyer ex of hers."

Trust Dad to say that. He's not going to hold himself back on what he thinks about Chad. However, Dad wouldn't be himself if he didn't say something like that.
