Chad's POV

Pulling my car onto a dirt track I follow it until I reach a new estate of houses. When I reach the front gates of the community I'm stopped by a security guard.

He's wearing a yellow vest with security on it. He approaches the car and I hit the button to pull down the window. His dark brown hair curls into his eyes and he moves it out of the way. "Can I help you?"

"Yes, you can. I'm Chad Whitehall I have a meeting with Dorian Jessup."

Looking at the clip in his arms he looks over the names on it. "I'll just give Mr Jessup a call and let him know you're here."

"Okay,"

The security guy pulls his phone out of his pocket and calls Dorian. He walks away so he has privacy while making a phone call to his boss.

It takes a couple of minutes before he comes back and opens the gate for me. "He'll be in the main office. Just follow the signs to the office. You can't miss it. Mr Jessup will be with you shortly."

Driving through the gate I follow the signs to the office and when I get there I park my car and wait for Dorian to finish up.

Dorian walks out of the office with a group of men and shakes their hands. "It was nice meeting you all. I'll give you a call when the architect has finished the plans." He watches them climb into the car and drives away. Turning towards me he says. "Hey, Chad. Are you ready for the meeting?"

"Yes, I am. Also, I have a few things that I need to be sketched by an architect. I'm looking into purchasing a piece of land and building a house on it. I heard your company is the one to that for me."

A smile spreads across his face. "You're right about that one. Let me know when you need something built there and I'll make sure it happens."

"Thanks," he leads the way to the office and I sit across from him. "Should we get straight to the point of why you called me here?"

"Sure, I was hoping that you and I could partner up and I get to rent a floor in your building? I know you normally don't rent out floors, but in my case, I was hoping you'd make an exception."

I thought he had an office building. Why would he need to rent a floor from me?

"What happened to your old building?"

He looks away from me for a moment. "I was renting a floor from a guy and he's up the rent to a ridiculous amount of money. I can't afford to give that much away to rent the floor."

"How about I make a deal with you?"

He hesitates for a moment before saying. "What do you want?"

"I get some money off future projects that I come to you about?"

Holding his hand out he says. "Deal," we shake on it.

"I'll have my lawyers draw up the paperwork. They will give you the exact amount for monthly rent to be acquired by me."

"Thank you, Chad. It means a lot that you're giving a floor to my company."

"You're welcome. Let me know when you need to move everything in. I'll make sure I have a team that can help you out." With that said, I walk out of the office and climb into my car.

It's 4:30 pm when I'm on the main road heading back to the city when an announcement on the radio captures my attention.

"There's a hostage situation happening right this minute in downtown LA. Frank's convenience store is blocked off at the moment."
