Chad pulls the car into the parking lot of Rivera. He parks close to the entrance. Stepping out of the car he rounds it before opening the door for me. Holding his hand out to me he says. "Are you ready for the date?"
A smile spreads across my face as I look at the handsome man in front of me. Placing my hand in his. "You know I'm ready for this date. I hope it doesn't have the excitement the last one had for us." I step out of the car and stand next to him.
There's a group of men standing next to an emergency exit staircase that leads up to a second story. When one of the men move their Armani jacket I see a holster with a gun.
Why would they need a gun in this area? It's not like there are any problems on this side of the City.
Chad's eyes follow mine and he starts to pull me towards the door. "Eliza, stop looking at them. You don't need those men taking notice of us. Pretend you didn't see anything and we'll be fine."
Why is he saying that?
Turning my head away from the piercing brown ones that I was looking at. "Chad, do you know who they are?"
His back stiffens and lowering his voice he says. "We have a couple of Mafia Families in this city and they're one of them. We don't need trouble from them. We should pretend that we didn't see anything. If we plaster what we saw the family will come after us and that's the last thing that I want." Chad opens the door and we step inside the building.
A beautiful blonde is standing behind the counter. She's wearing a shirt that says 'Rivera' on it. Her hair piled on top of her head in a bun. Brown eyes that have a hint of blue in them. Tanned skin and toned body. A smile spreads across her face as she sees us. "Welcome to Rivera. I'm Skyler. Do you have a..." her eyes clash with Chad's and recognition crosses her face. "This is the woman you wanted to bring on a date?" she steps out from behind the booth. "She's beautiful. No wonder you wanted to bring her somewhere beautiful. I have the perfect table for you." She leads the way through the restaurant.
Some of the tables have candles on them and the house lights are dimmed. Giving the room a romantic feel to it.
This is something a woman would set into place.
"I like what you've done with the place, Skyler."
She turns towards me and says. "I'm glad you do. My Fiancé told me that I could whatever I wanted to the restaurant and that's exactly what I did." The door to the restaurant opens and a few men in suits walk through it. "Shit," she mumbles. "I'll be right back." She runs towards the door and says something to the men.
They walk back out the door.
She rushes back over to us. "I'm sorry about that. They're here to see my fiance, but they came through the wrong door. He has his entrance through a different part of the building."
She doesn't need to explain to us what's going on.
Chad keeps hold of my hand. "That's okay. You don't need to tell us what's happening, Skyler."
"Here's the table." She stops in front of a table that's tucked away from everyone else. "I set this table up for dates. There won't be anyone else around this way until after 8 pm when a wedding party comes through." Placing the menus in front of us. "Can I get you something to drink?"
"Sure, we'll have two glasses of orange juice."
Looking at Chad I say. "You don't have to get the same thing as me. If you want a beer you should get one. I can drive us home?"
He shakes his head. "I want to be sober when I'm with you. Drinking too much brings a side out of me that I don't want you to ever see. So, I'm going to stick with orange juice."
