Chad's POV
After saying 'goodbye,' to Eliza I head towards the city and go through the back streets towards the private area where Lusive is located. Pulling out my phone I call Jai.
The phone rings a couple of times before he picks up. "Hello, this is Jai."
Me: Jai, it's Chad. Are you at the club?
Jai: Yes, when you get here use the backdoor. I'll make sure that one of my guards are stationed there for your arrival. There are people here that I don't want you to mix with.
Me: Thanks, bud. That means a lot to me.
Jai: See you soon.
Me: Bye,
Hanging up the phone I continue to drive towards the club. I see the Neon sign on and it's flashing. Letting people know that the club is open. I park the car and walk over to the side entrance.
When I get there a burly man is standing there with his arms folded and he's wearing a yellow vest that says security. "Are you Chad Whitehall?"
"Yes, I am. Do you need to see proof?"
He shakes his head. "No, the boss gave me a quick description of you. All I wanted to do was confirm who you were before letting you in." Opening the door he lets me enter first. "I'll show you to the office. Don't make eye contact with anyone in the room. It's best to ignore everyone that in there."
"Thanks, for the heads up." I look at his name tag and see his name printed on it. 'Robert,' He leads me through the hall and it leads straight to the stairs where the office is located.
"Just go up those stairs. Jai will be in there."
"Thank you, Robert." I climb the stairs and when I reach the top there's a wooden door and I knock on it. The door swings open and I see Jai at the door.
"Hi, Chad. Come on in." He closes the door behind me. "Take a seat and we'll talk about what happened last night. You know I'm surprised you didn't bring your girl with you."
Taking a seat across from him I say. "I'd rather her be safe and being in this place. This place is unfamiliar." Looking towards the door I add. "Who do you have down there that dangerous? I was told not to look at anyone as I was walking through the building."
He leans back against the chair and looks me in the eyes. "That's none of your concern. I want to help you with the current problem that you have and that's what you saw last night. The Rivera's don't know if you're a friend or threat. If you're a threat they will kill you and your girlfriend. If you're a friend they will protect you. Members of the other family saw you and they're going to come after the both of you. Unless you choose aside. The side you choose will protect you."
Eliza and I are capable of taking care of ourselves. Being involved with a Mafia family is the last thing that I want. I will do whatever I need to, to protect us without these men.
Crossing my arms I look at Jai and a smile spreads across his face. "You've chosen a side haven't you?"
"I have. It's Eliza and my side. We'll be friends with the Mafia, but I'm not going to allow them to protect us. I will figure a way to get these men out of our life. That means I won't be part of the mafia. I will not work and kill for a living for the. I'm going to kill for my family and protect them. That's it."
The door opens and Luca walks into the room with a cigar in his mouth. He takes a puff letting the smoke out. "That's good to hear." He moves toward me and places a piece of paper on the table. "You'll be able to find them at this address. Take care of them tonight before you go home. If you don't do it right away you will be a target by tomorrow."
Taking the paper from him I look at the address and see that it's a local strip club. One that I frequented a lot when I needed a release from work. I know the entire layout of the place and where the emergency exit is too.
An old friend of mine used to own it until he was shot dead by the asshole who took it over. The police never investigated it and said that it was suicide.
Everyone that knew him knew it was a lie and we didn't have enough proof of what happened. I had to leave things alone. After all, if I didn't I would have ruined my life because all I wanted was revenge on the people that killed him.
However, it was Sebastian that made sure that I didn't cross any lines and go after them. This time he won't be there to stop me from doing what needs to be done.
Luca touches my shoulder. "Once it's done call me. I'll have someone clean up your mess." He hands me a card and I take it from him.
Quickly I add it to my phone before ripping the card into small pieces and throwing it into the trash. "If I get caught I don't want the police to see I have a link with you. They should know I did this on my own. Without the help of your family. Can I ask you a question?"
Luca takes a seat next to me and looks at me with real interest. "Sure," he puts his cigar out.
"If I take them out what does this do to Los Angeles? I don't want there to be war and kids being taken off the street and sold to the highest bidder. I know there are people out there like that. Please, tell me your family don't do that?"
"My family don't do that, Chad. What we do is something that you'll never find out because you've made it clear that you don't want to join us. I respect that decision from you though. However, having you on our side is a bonus." Standing up he moves over to Jai and slaps his back. "My friend here Jai. Is on the sideline as well. When we need something he'll do it without hesitation because we're family."
Jai rubs his face. "I used to be a right-hand man to one of the most feared mafia families in New York, but I got out after a final kill. Since then I have been used amongst the families that have a connection to each other. It could be due to an affair that happened between different families. A new start or a friendship between two men that didn't want to start a fight with the other."
"I'm the one that formed a friendship with another Mafia family. We both went to boarding school together and once of families found out. They pulled us from the school and made sure that we wouldn't see each other. We sent email's all the time and when we took over after our father's we killed we made sure the other was safe and made an agreement to help the other out if and when the time came."
I'm glad he's being honest with me.
Looking at my watch I see that's 2 pm and Eliza's family will be arriving at her place around 5 pm.
I better get this over and done with before I'm late to the party. Eliza won't like it if I'm late.
Pushing the chair out I stand. "I've got stuff to do tonight. I better be heading off."
Luca pulls his Glock out of his holster and gives it to me. "This gun is untraceable. Unlike the ones you have in your car."
How does he know about the ones I have in my car?
Jai stands up. "I told him about it. Luca wanted me to track you down and make sure that you wouldn't do anything stupid. Like talking to the police about what you saw." He holds his hand out to me. Shaking his hand he says. "Good luck."
I don't need it.
Heading to the door I open it and walk out. I walk through the club and use the side entrance that I used when I came in. When I get to the car I put the gun in the centre console and pull away from the curb.
