It's around 6 pm when I'm released from the hospital. The doctors want me on bed rest for the next couple of days as they found my blood pressure was through the roof. I was given a brochure on what my symptoms could mean for my pregnancy. I'm just hoping that I don't get preeclampsia.
Chad has the wheelchair placed next to the bed and he holds his hand out to me. "Let me help you into the chair."
Taking his hand, I climb off the bed and move over to the seat. "Thanks, Chad. Do you want to be with me through this whole pregnancy? I don't seem to be having any luck with it. first I get dehydrated and now this. My child isn't here yet and I feel like a terrible parent." Tears begin to fall down my face and I can't control them.
Austin's lucky he doesn't have to see me like this. My family are the ones that are going to help me through it all. Like they have since Austin left me.
Chad moves in front of me and places his hands on my face. "Eliza, I never want to hear those words come out of your mouth. you're going to be a perfect parent. With me at you're side we're going to be perfect too."
"Thanks, Chad. That's exactly what I need to hear at the moment." Wrapping my arms behind his neck I pull him forward and kiss him.
At first, he doesn't do anything as the shock has taken over him. Before I know it he's kissing me back. Pulling away from my lips he says. "I like your lips on mine, Miss Donoghue." He smirks and it makes him look hotter. "Who are you going home with tonight? You have three cars and three people to choose from."
Mom shakes her head and looks at him. "We all know she's going with you, Chad. Why? I don't know. it's not like she doesn't see you enough at work. I've been hearing about the dinner's you've had with her, my grandkids and I'm waiting for the date that you're going to take her on. The second one where you two will be alone. Hopefully, there won't be a repeat of what happened near Sebastian's families Vineyard."
Chad turns his attention to me and says. "You told her about that?"
A smile spread across my face. "Of course I would tell her about it. it was a weird first date. One that couldn't be changed because the manager of the place insisted that we have privacy. He didn't think that the free show would bother us, but it did and I want to thank you for making sure he got rid of that woman from the room before I walked out the door."
Mom makes fun of him and his face turns red at the teasing she's giving him. "You're just like my daughter. Blushing when I tease her about certain situations. You two are perfect for each other."
Kat walks into the room with Dad behind her. "Frank's doing much better. He asked to see you before you leave, Lizzie. Do you think you can spare a couple of minutes to see him?"
"Yes, I was hoping to see him before I go home with Chad." Looking at my family I say. "Drive safe home and tell the little squirts that I'll be home shortly and that I love them."
Kat hugs me. "You know I'll do that. See you when you get home." turning her attention to Chad she adds. "Make sure she gets home safely. If one hair on her head is touched I'll shove my foot so far up your ass you'll have problems sitting."
Throwing my head back I laugh.
She's not kidding when she says that. Her threats are very detailed and people don't want to deal with her when she's like that. I'm used to it and it doesn't bother me that she says something like that people.
Ding, my phone goes off and I pull it out of my purse and see a message from Nina.
Nina: Eliza are you okay? Me: Why do you want to know? Nina: A friend saw you in the hospital with our family and asked if I knew what was wrong with you.
Me: I'm fine, Nina. Nina: You used that word on me several times growing up and it wasn't 'fine.' is there anything I can do to help? Me: Don't tell the rest of our siblings. I don't want messages from them.
Nina: I'm sorry for what I did to you. is there any way that you can forgive me? Me: Give me time, Nina. That's all I need.
Nina: Can I come by the house over the weekend to see Mom and Dad? Me: You don't need to ask. Just send Kat a message and she'll let you know when the perfect time for you to visit is. bye, Nina.
Everyone looks at me as I put my phone back into my purse. "What?" I ask the group.
Kat's attention is on my bag. "Who were you texting?"
"Nina,"
"Oh," Kat moves a strand of hair that's fallen in her face. "What did she want?"
"A friend of hers was in the hospital and they saw me here. they asked her if I was okay. Nina didn't know what to say as she never heard that I was in the hospital. Why would we reach out to her and my brother's when they don't care too much about me?" I look at Chad and say. "Can we see Frank now?"
"yes, we can." he pushes me towards Frank's room and when we get there I see Tammy sitting in a chair across from her father and they seem to be in a heated conversation. Chad knocks on the door and they both turn towards it.
They plaster on fake smiles as we enter the room. "I'm sorry for interrupting."
"You didn't," Frank says.
Tammy's arms are folded and her nostrils flare as she looks at her father. "Yes, you did. What's with you're family interfering with everything that has to do with my father. Kat and you aren't his kids and yet he spends every waking moment talking about the two of you."
Looking over at Frank I ask. "Is that true?"
He sighs before moving further under the covers.
Wheeling the chair over to the bed I pull the blankets back and say. "What have I told you about that?" he doesn't reply to me. so I continue to lecture him. "Not to do it. Tammy is starting to resent us and it's not a good thing when it comes to the type of training she's been given. Kat and my fighting skills aren't up to spar as we're both now pregnant and don't have enough time for it."
"You need to make time."
Chad moves over to the bed and looks him in the eyes. "She can't make time. Eliza's on bed rest for the next couple of days and then after that, she needs to take things easy or her blood pressure could shoot through the roof and there could be complications from it. Are you willing to harm, Eliza and the baby?"
He shakes his head. "I don't want anything to happen to them."
