Shattered Part II - 41

After the movie the kids are asleep and we pick them up and carry them to the car. placing them in the seat, we put the buckle on them and climb inside. Derryn start's the car and we head in the direction of Kat's house.

It doesn't take long until we're pulling into the driveway. Pulling my phone out I call Kat. The phone rings a couple of times before she picks.

Kat: Why are you calling me when you're about to get to the house?

Me: The kids are asleep. Can you get Sebastian to meet us at the door?

Kat: Sure, he's heading down now, Liz. Did you have fun?

Me: Yes, I'll tell you all about it soon.

Kat: Okay, I can't wait to hear all about it.

Me: Bye,

Hanging up I look up and see that we're about to park in front of the house. When the car parks the door is opened by Sebastian. He lifts his son out of the car and head to the front door.

Stepping out of the car I head over to my sister, while Chad grabs Mia and carries her inside. She tucks her head into his chest.

Kat smiles at her daughter. "She looks comfy in his arms. Just like she did when she was born." Placing a hand on her stomach she says. "I hope this one will have the same bond to her Uncle Chad."

"I'm sure she will. He knows how to make girls and woman fall over themselves for his attention." I feel my face heat up and I push my hair to the front covering my face.

Kat throws her head back and laughs. "I never thought I'd see the day that sister would be interested in another guy. one that's name is Austin."

Shoving my sister to the side I say. "You're being mean Kat. I'm not going to tell you how the night went now." I cross my arms and walk further into the house. Heading to the pool house I open the door and step inside. I go through the closet until I find something clean to wear.

I'm not going to wear the same clothes to see my father.

Kat jumps onto the bed and watches me closely. "Please, tell me how it went. We both know you hate to keep things a secret. Especially, when it has something to do with people that we are friends with. Spill, sis."

"It was good. Chad and I got dinner from Rivera, while the kids wanted McDonald's. We ended at Chad's where we went to his theatre room to watch The Lion King."

"Aw, that's cute. Did you sing along to the songs like you did when we were growing up?"

A smile spreads across my face. "Of course I did. Chad likes my voice and the kids asked me if I could sing them to sleep tonight, but it looks like that won't happen as they're both asleep." I pull my clothes off and get changed into a skirt that reaches above my knees and a black tank. Grabbing a black leather jacket I put it over my outfit and walk out the door.

Katrina walks beside me. "Are you going on a date with him?"

Frowning I look at her and ask. "How do you know?"

She points to her phone. "Chad asked me a while ago if you'd go on a date with him. After all the other one didn't work too well for you did it?"

Shaking my head I say. "It didn't work out for us. I give him an A for effort for that one. He wanted a private table, but the boss had to be walking the floor and see Chad in his club. That's why we were taken to another room. He didn't like the change of plans for the date though."

Sebastian walks out of the house. "Mia and Logan want you upstairs, Eliza. They were telling me you have an incredible voice and that you promised to sing them to sleep." He wraps his arms around his wife. "I'd love to hear this voice. The one that's leaving my best friend in a mess."

Throwing my head back I laugh. "Chad will never be a mess. I know he loves my voice. I could see the way he was reacting to it while I was singing." I head into the house and go up the stairs.

The third door on the right is Mia and Logan's room. mia sits up in her bed and smiles at me. "Can you sing something from The Lion King?"

"Which song do you want to hear?"

Logan and Mia look between each other and say. "The song you were singing when we were listening to you."

"Hakuna Matata it is." I begin to sing the song and everyone starts listening closely to me as I continue with the lyrics. As the song finishes, I look over at my niece and nephew and see that they're asleep. I put the covers over them and kiss their cheek before walking out the door. I turn the light off and leave a crack in the door, so light can enter the room.

Kat hugs me. "Thanks for getting them to sleep. Where are you going now?"

"I'm going to the hospital to see how Frank is doing. I won't be able to sleep if I don't know how he's..."

Kat pulls me into her arms. She whispers. "He taught us a lot when we were growing up. I should come with you." she looks at her husband and says. "look after the kids. I'll be home when I can."

Sebastian kisses her on the lips. "Don't be too long. You need to be well-rested for the ultrasound in the morning. I could drop the kids off at Daycare and come back home for you."

A smile spreads across her face. "That's a great idea, honey." She grabs her purse and leads the way to the door.

The driver steps out of the car open the door for Kat. She climbs into the car and I follow behind her. Chad climbs into the car with us.

Looking between us he says. "Now, I have to protect two pregnant women, while we go to the hospital."

"We're not defenceless, Chad." Pulling my gun out of my purse I say. "I carry this where ever I go just in case someone wants to steal from me. I work hard for everything I have. I'm not interested in having some ass wipe steal my hard earnings from me."

Kat throws her head back laughing. "You sounded like Frank just then. He told us stories about the shit he's dealt with in the streets and while he was at war. Some of them still give me the chills, but knowing what happened in that convenience store is different. He was just protecting what he's worked hard for. Do you think he'll get time for what he did?"

"It was self-defence. At the end of the day, they were armed with guns. They intended to rob the store and they could have killed Frank or other customers in the store, but frank protected everyone in thereby taking them out. one at a time."
