The Next Day

Last night I spent the night tossing and turning after the conversation we had about my parent's not being my biological ones. The thing I couldn't stop thinking about is how the conversation is going to start when we have it today.

*Flashback*

After everyone went home Chad and I locked up the house before heading to bed. We both pulled off our and got changed into shorts and I put a tank top on.

Looking over at Chad I say. "What happened at the house? I know most of the problems happened there."

He runs a hand through his hair, before pulling the blankets out and climbing into his side of the bed. "Okay," he sighs. "Somethings were mentioned about you. I don't think you know about it. If you did I would have known about it right?"

"I'm not sure, Chad. Stop beating around the bush and tell me what you know." I climb into bed and he moves closer to me.

Placing his hand on mine he whispers. "Before I say what I have to. I want you to know that I love you and I'm here for you."

"Okay," sitting up I draw lines across his stomach and wait for him to say what he needs to. I can tell that it's hard for him to get the words out.

"Dylan was pissed that he was getting kicked out of the house and he stood up and looked at everyone as he said. 'No, that bitch can't take our family from us. Besides, she's not my sister."

"Oh,"

"Is that all you're going to say? 'Oh,' Did you know about this?"

Lying my head on the pillow I say. "A couple of years ago I was going through my room and I found a card with my Grandparents names on it and I sent them an email. Hoping that it was still active and it turns out it was. They told me about my biological parent's last year because I looked like my father. I was glad that they told me. However, knowing the truth didn't make me change my mind about the people that raised me. They are Mom and Dad to me. They raised me when I was a baby and I didn't know anything different to what I grew up with. I never hated them for not telling me something I never knew I had. Nothing is going to change for us."

Chad wrapped his arms around me. "I'm glad you know about this. It's going to be hard for your parents to tell you in the morning. Kat wasn't there for the tantrum and I'm not sure how she will react to the news."

"She won't care, Chad. I'm her sister and that's it. Our bond was formed long ago and time, distance hasn't made a difference to us. Let's go to sleep. I'm tired." I yawn and turn off the lights.

*End Flashback*

Chad opens his eyes and looks at me. "Did you get much sleep last night?"

Shaking my head I say. "No, I'm worried about how Mom is going to break the news to me. Even though I know what it is. Also, Nina is coming over this morning. So, we can exchange gifts and she seemed a little distant last night when I was messaging her. Do you think it had anything to do with what Dylan announced to my family?"

"I think it did."

Ding, my phone goes off and I pick it up from the nightstand. Looking at it I see it's a message from Nina.

Nina: I'm on the way to the house. I can't wait to see you.

Me: Me, too. Do you want to talk about what happened last night?

Nina: We'll talk about it when I get to the house. This shouldn't be said over SMS.

Me: Okay, see you soon.
