There's a knock at the front door and Kat yells. "I've got it." she walks over to the door and opens it, revealing her husband. She wraps her arms around him and says. "Hey, Baby."
A smile spreads across his face. "Hey, sweetheart. Mom has the kids and she wants them to stay the night. So, it'll be us in the house tonight."
Kat's eyes twinkle as she looks at him. "We're going to have a good night, but before we do I want to have dinner with my sister and welcome her into the house." She steps aside and lets him into the house.
Walking out of the living room I make myself known. "Hey, Seb. How's it going?"
"Good," He says, looking at the boxes on the floor. "Are these everything you need taken to the house?"
"Yep, that's everything I need right now. When I find a place to live I'll come back and get the rest." Grabbing a suitcase I wheel it out the front door and towards my car. Before I can lift the suitcase Seb is at my side.
Lifting it, he puts it into the trunk. "I told you the other day that I don't want you lifting anything. That includes luggage." He looks at my stomach. "You need to take care of that little one growing inside you." Seb moves away from me and heads back inside where he gets some of the moving boxes and starts loading them into his car.
Once the boxes are inside his car Mom calls us for lunch. She's at the table with a platter of mixed sandwiches in front of her.
Ah, Kat made these.
Growing up Kat would make sandwiches for us and put all our favourite foods onto a platter and we'd dig into it, having assorted sandwiches and it was one of my favourite things that my sister could do.
Pulling a chair out I sit next to Mom and she places a hand on mine. She smiles kindly at me before saying. "I'm going to miss you, Liz. You're one of the greatest things to happen to me. Thanks for taking care of me while I was sick. Now it's your turn to fly. You're father and I can't keep your wings clipped forever."
I hug her and say. "Thanks. Mom. You're blessing was the one thing I wanted before I move." Grabbing a sandwich I begin to eat.
Dad sits at the table and he places a cheque on the table in front of us and says. "I took your advice and sold the club to the family that's buying all the businesses and they gave us five times the asking amount and they've agreed to name the building after me and they're also going to put pictures up of the bar and of my family too. In honour of us. This couldn't have happened without you."
"When do you need to move the stuff out?"
"The club will be around for another three months. The family wants us to enjoy the time we have on our premises. Isn't that kind of them?"
"Yes, it is. Before the club closes I want to be here for the closing party."
"Me, too," Kat says. She holds her husband's hand. "We'll bring some friends to send the club off with a bang."
A smile spreads across Dad's face. "I'd like that very much. After lunch, I'm going to cash this cheque and get some wine to celebrate with my wife." He leans across the table and plants a kiss on Mom's lips."
She winks at him before saying. "I love celebrating with you. Do you remember when..."
I cut Mom off by saying. "Please, don't tell us any of your sex stories." I shudder and add. "Because Kat and I don't want to hear it." Placing a hand on my stomach. "My child doesn't need to hear it either. Ever."
Mom throws her head back and laughs. "Okay, I get it. You don't want to hear personal stuff about us, but we could hear personal stuff from you." Mom covers her mouth with her hand and her face starts to go red.
Did she hear Austin and me? I tried to keep my noise to a minimum, but it looks like the walls were thinner than I thought.
Dad moves over to Mom's side and hugs her. "Sorry, for embarrassing you kiddo, but you needed to know that we weren't always asleep when you were with Austin. Besides, that boy snuck into the house at all sorts of hours to be with you. I never really liked him, but I put a front on when he was over because I didn't want to cause problems with you, Liz and now watching everything you've been through I wish that I had the balls to stop things before they happened."
Standing up I move to Dad and hug him. "I wouldn't have listened to you, Dad. Things have been said and done and it's time that I move on from him and do something that will make me happy. Providing for my child and I will be productive and that's what I need right now. Thanks for letting me stay here longer than needed."
Dad kisses the top of my head. "You're welcome. Thanks for taking care of your mother while I still worked. Having you here made the business run smoothly, but now it's up to me to run it and take care of your mother. Are you heading straight to the house?"
Shaking my head I say. "Before I leave this town I need to make a stop at Austin's parent's place. They deserve to know that they're going to be Grandparents. I want them to be part of his or her life and I'd feel guilty if I didn't include them."
"You're a special woman, Liz. Any guy that comes into your life from this moment on should know that. Don't settle for just anyone. Also, the guy must accept the child too." Dad says. "I'm sure there's someone out there waiting for you to enter his life."
"What if she's about to enter his?" Kat says.
A smile spreads across Mom's face. "He better be as good as the one you have, Kat. Our girl deserves to be loved and have someone love her back and not use her for what's between her legs and on her chest."
Seb turns towards his wife and says. "Are you coming with me?"
She shakes her head. "I'll be staying with Kat while she talks to Austin's parents. She needs my support by doing that."
He kisses her. "I'll see you at home." Seb looks at me and adds. "Everything will be in the pool house when you get home. I have a friend that will be helping me with the stuff."
"It's all good," I tell him. "You should get your friend to stay for dinner. I'm sure he could use a good feed after helping you move the boxes."
"We'll see." Pulling his keys out of his pocket he moves towards the door. Opening the door he steps outside letting the sun enter the room.
