Pregame and angst
I'm taking a break from killing off people
I was going to do a different kind of angst but hey, let's make people hate Shuichi

Kokichi messed with the ends of his long sleeves that he was wearing as his husband was sitting right across from him. Kokichi was the son of House Ouma, the prince of a kingdom that rises among the masses, competing against the Saihara kingdom over which was more superior. A never ending war between them that didn't contain bloodshed, but it was obvious that each of them were at each other's throats.
Even though Kokichi desperately wanted to be removed from the current situation he's in. Being stuck in a loveless marriage that was ironically with a lovesick idiot. He was tiptoeing at the edge of a fragile relationship between him and his husband.
And this.....
Was something that Kokichi least expected when Shuichi's butler, Rantaro, summoned him to Shuichi's office.
"I want you to sign this paper of a letter for a Royal Consort."
Kokichi stared at the paper in front of him, his head dipped low as he examined it's details. Having 2 names written on it in an ink that bled through the paper. And really, even though Kokichi most of the time was a pacifist, he wished that it was something of a different substance that wasn't ink on the paper.
But more of something that is derived from his poor excuse of a husband. It was requesting for each side's consent to this and Kokichi noticed how Shuichi had already signed his side of the agreement. And now it has to be Kokichi, his presumed husband to sign the blank space next to Shuichi's.
"Your Majesty, you know that we've only gotten married only a few months ago." said Kokichi, looking up at Shuichi who had his desk littered with papers since he was the current emperor of both their kingdoms. And nonetheless, even though he can be referred as a king, Kokichi doesn't remember when his mother would have to call his father "Your Majesty" as if she was a lower class bowing down to another upperclassman who had the title as a king.
Shuichi lift his eyebrow in confusion and then after a moment nodded his head. As expected, Kokichi pretended to read the contents of the letter but he knew that his husband completely forgot about the day that they were married. It was probably one of the least important days in his life, and Kokichi couldn't even take offense to it that much.
Their parents arranged their wedding together and only did so to have some sort of peace treaty, not taking account of their feelings. Because that's just how the world works sometimes. At least Miss Sonia had a say in her marriage, these two didn't and what formed between them was a huge gap of hatred for the other person.
Kokichi scanned the letter really quick and felt his eyes stop at a name of a girl. Kokichi let out a scoff and thought 'Of course it's her.'
Marisa Ikuzoba
It was kind of obvious that Marisa was Shuichi's lover. There were countless sightings of them walking along beside each other on late night dates. When Shuichi was still a prince, there was barely a time when you didn't see the male with the brunette female. Their love story dated back to their highschool years when they met at a dance one day and they fell in love with each other ever since then. But of course, no one approved of their relationship and it was something that Kokichi pitted for both of them.
But really, Kokichi didn't like it when Shuichi pitied himself even if he was in denial that he was doing it. Because as Kokichi sees it, if one pity's themselves, life will become an endless nightmare.
And truly, Shuichi was living an endless nightmare not having his love beside him every night and having Kokichi. A mere imposter in her place, who didn't bring him the same warmth that she used to provide for him.
And Kokichi understands that. He wasn't Maria just like Maria wasn't him. So not matter how hard he tried he cannot make Shuichi feel any better, because Shucihi doesn't love Kokichi and Kokichi knows that.
And yet.....
Kokichi can't deny that he had before developed an attraction towards Shuichi before all of this came upon them.
Kokichi didn't like that Shuichi wouldn't look at him. He didn't like that Shucihi was sulking inside the great palace that he had inherited. He didn't like that Shuichi's eyes were on another female and yet they were.
And really, all Kokichi wanted was for Shuichi to look at him and for once after the months of silence between him, Shuichi had looked at his husband. But it was obvious that it was filled with disgust and Kokichi could tell that he only looked at him as a mere tool so that he could have his selfish desire to be with the woman he wanted to be with even if it were for a brief period of time before he had to return to Kokichi.
Kokichi couldn't blame him for being selfish, because he was also being selfish in return.
Kokichi wanted everything to go back to what it was like before. When Kokichi and Shuichi were friends despite their families being at each other's necks. Some might say that they were pretty close since they shared many playful secrets with each other. But after their marriage, Shuichi started tearing away the friendship they had, leaving only a bitter feeling in its place and Kokichi had decided to adapt with that bitter feeling. Because at least Shuichi didn't leave him completely.
Kokichi bit the inside of his cheek as he looked at the paper in his hand, he then set it down and said "I'm not going to sign it." Shuichi frowned and asked "Why?" Kokichi flinched a bit since Shuichi raised his voice a bit, and he felt the anger lacing it.
"Your mother won't be happy if you got a consort only months after the marriage." answered Kokichi, and Shuichi sneered when Kokichi brought up the wedding. Kokichi bit his lip from creating an outburst and Shuichi said "Fine then, I'll request it later down the line. Rantaro, escort him back to what he was doing before."
Rantaro nodded and bowed as he then signed Kokichi to leave the room. When he closed the door, Rantaro looked at Kokichi with an unhappy look on his face. "You should stop doing this, it's hurting both of you." said Rantaro. "I know that." said Kokichi as he started walking away with Rantaro tailing behind him.
"I wish that we never met each other." said Kokichi and Rantaro raised an eyebrow. "Why? Don't you love him?" asked Rantaro and Kokichi didn't deny that claim. "Yeah I do, but at least if we were strangers then I won't be in as much pain as I am in right now."
Even if Kokichi didn't like accepting the fact that he too was pitying himself.
Just like Shuichi,
He was living in an endless nightmare as well
