{Postgame AU}

Shuichi  looks at himself in the mirror and smiles to himself as he adjusts the suit that he's wearing, he then pulls out the note that was stuffed into his pocket that was folded up neatly. Opening the letter the wrinkled up letter, Shuichi felt a small smile appear on his pale face as his purple eyes gazed fondly on the neat handwriting. The letter was an invitation from a classmate that he knew from highschool, even though they had cut ties after highschool and only briefly spoke to eachother like a few years ago. He was still happy that he was important enough to be invited to this event.

In neat handwriting, the letter said 

"We hope that everyone is doing well. We decided to have a wedding ceremony. We would like to hold a small party to express our gratitude to all of you. I know it is a busy time for you, but I hope you will be able to attend.

Sincerely,

Kokichi Ouma"

"Congratulations on your marriage, Ouma-kun."

{Time Skip}

"Oi sidekick!!" screamed a voice, Shuichi looked up from where he was sitting and deep in thought. "What is it Kaito?" Shuichi asked politely. "Glad to see you're both doing well" said Kaede, the blond pianist walked over to the group, Shuichi noticing that her hands were linked with the blond inventor. After the killing game they participated in ended, Miu and Kaede got to know eachother more and by the time they all graduated, they had started dating.

"So, Kokichi asked you to give a speech correct?" asked Kaede, sitting in a couch that was across from the pair of men, with Miu letting go of Kaede to go and catch up with Maki who was just standing in the corner, watching her fiancé catch up with his old friends.  Shuichi chuckled and said "Yeah I'm a bit nervous. This is the first wedding I've been to and I have to also do a speech.

{Time Skip}

Shuichi watched with a smile as Kokichi stood there in a white suit as a woman, wearing a lovely white dress walked down the aisle. Her hair fashioned in a way that one side rested on her shoulder. Shuichi admits that Kokichi choose quite the looker, he wasn't really surprised that she was so beautiful that it attracted the attention of the now ex supreme leader.

She looked like an angel. Aishki Sakamota was her name if Shuichi remembered correctly, from the call that Kokichi gave him many nights back, in which he revealed that he was getting married and wanted Shuichi to give a speech. The newly weds exchanged rings and Shuichi watched with a content smile as Kokichi and Aishki locked lips.

The crowd erupted into cheers while Kaito, try as he might tried not to cry his eyes out. Though it was very noticeable since his sniffles were very loud "DAMN YOU FOR GETTING MARRIED BEFORE ME KOKICHI!" screamed Kaito, his voice pitched to the point he sounded like a baby chick. Gonta, the gentleman he was, handed the astronaut a tissue for him to blow in. Kokichi giggled and clapped for the newly weds.

{Time Skip}

"Kaito... Stop crying.." mumbled Maki as she tried to comfort her fiancé who was bawling his eyes out. So much that Shuichi was just wondering if when he was done, that his eyes would be sunken in like a dried out sponge. "ITS JUST *sniffles* HE'S FINALLY BECOMING A MAN!" crying Kaito. "Please stop crying Kaito, its embarrassing all of us here" whispered Shuichi as he played with the glass of champagne in his hand. "But!" screeched Kaito. "People are looking over at us honey" mumbled Maki as she felt her social anxiety rise to cloud 9 and above.

"But, she's very beautiful. Kokichi is quite lucky to get a girl like her" admitted Kaito as he tried avoiding Maki's stinkeye that was directed towards him. "Of course not as beautiful was you, Makiroll. I hope that our ceremony would be just like this." said Kaito. Shuichi became silent while staring at the glass of champagne, taking a big interest in the yellow liquid. 'Why do I feel so melancholic?' wondered Shuichi. 

"Hey Shuichi, what's wrong?" asked Maki. Shuichi's ahoge perked up and he said "Oh its nothing, just a bit nervous about the speech." Maki raised an eyebrow, showing her suspicion towards the obvious lie that Shuichi made, but decided against interrogating him.

"And now, I would like to ask for a congratulatory speech from a friend of the groom, Shuichi Saihara, please come up." announced Mr.Ouma.

Shuichi stood up and Kaito gave him a thumbs up "Break a leg sidekick!" exclaimed Kaito. "Calm down" said Maki, signaling Kaito to be a bit more quieter. Shuichi smiled and walked up to the microphone that was placed not too far away where the newly weds were.

"I am Kokichi's friend from highschool, my name's Shuichi Saihara. We've been friends for about 5 years, even though we didn't interact much after highschool. Though we can always talk to eachother when we need to. Even though he has a habit of lying, I slowly learned that he was a reliable man."

'That's right, even though he was considered an annoyance to everyone in the beginning, once you got to know him, he's one of the best people there. His humanity can shine the more you talked to him. I thought he was someone strong. But at some point, I realized that he was more human than I thought, that he had a fragile side that he barely showed behind those walls of lies. Even though those moments became more brief the more the game progressed, I found myself wanting to protect him during the moments that he was fragile'

'I'm in love with him....'

Shuichi heard the sound of tears dripping onto paper and he noticed that it was his own that was wetting the paper. "Huh?" he muttered before rubbing his eyes to get rid of the tears that were running down his face.

Kokichi , who has been staring at the taller male during the whole speech, noticing that Shuichi had trailed off a bit as if he was deep in thought after complimenting Kokichi on how reliable he was. Kokichi's eyes widened a bit while Kaede walked up to the microphone and patted Shuichi's back. "What's wrong Shuichi? C'mon lets read it together if you can't handle it alone. I know that this is an emotional time for all of us. But we must pull through for Shuichi" said Kaede she helped Shuichirub his tears away.

Kokichi felt Ashki lean towards him and whisper "You've got a good friend" "....ah..."muttered Kokichi . Kaede then helped guide Shuichi through his written speech, and once the older man got back on his feet, she walked away and back to her pouting girlfriend.

{Time Skip}

"Are you ok?" asked Kokichi, holding a champagne glass in front of Shuichi's face, who was busy blowing his nose. "Kokichi" Kokichi snickered and said "Yup! That's my name! Anyways, thanks for the speech, it was pretty nice, though a bit cliché." Shuichi started panicking and Kokichi hummed as the emo was starting to stutter a lot out of nervousness. "Of course that's a lie!" reassured Kokichi as he patted Shuichi's back.

"Ah, well it was my pleasure to do it," said Shuichi. "Wahhhh, Saihara-chan is being so formal and on my wedding. So boringggg" complained Kokichi and Shuichi chuckled. Shuichi then looked over at Ashki , who was entertaining the guests "She's... Beautiful.." Kokichi snickered "Right?" Shuichi stared at the smile that was on the purple-haired groom's face with a sort of gentleness. "Yeah..."

'You're more beautiful.'

'I'll never be able to say that though'

On that day, I realized I was in love for the first time, and without him even knowing, my heart was broken.
