Listen, alright. I know that you guys want the stupid Egg Project thing, but I felt like releasing an angst before I return to a more lighthearted one-shot.
Please don't kill me, for not starting on the egg oneshot because of school and my lack of motivation to make some stupid fluff.
_____________
Hishiko let out a giggle as she climbed up the ladder to the attic. She was playing hide and seek with the other children, Kohayo and Kagi. She really loved the Iruma family household since they were always accepting of both of them when they came over since they were here for sleepover. She hid behind some boxes and then bumped heads with another person, that being her older brother, who was around 11 years old if she could remember. Well really, Hishiko doesn't really since being the 5 years old that she is, she could barely remember how many toes she had and was easily distracted.
"Hishiko!" exclaimed Kohayo in a whispering tone as he hugged his younger sister dearly. Hishiko let out a snort and started giggling more and making noises that Kohayo couldn't decipher but he could tell that they were made out of happiness. "Nishishi~ if we stick together then we can watch each other's backs!" said Kohayo, giving HIshiko a hug in which Hishiko reciprocated it.
"Anyways, it doesn't seem like this would be a good hiding place, big sister Kagi will find us eventually if we stay out here in the open." said Kohayo as he searched around the dusty attic. It was a keepsafe for all of Miu's inventions that she didn't end up finishing, but she only allowed the safe ones to go up there in case any of the children decide to stumble up to the attic and look around the place. "Here! Hold this while I go and move one of the machines!" exclaimed Kohayo as he placed a black cap on top of the confused Hishiko.
He let out a grunt as he pushed the machinery out of the way, but that triggered something and a box landed right on top of Kohayo's head. Hishiko swears that her older brother's ahoge reacted to that thing falling on top of him, but maybe she was seeing things. "Big Bro?" asked Kohayo as she waddled over to her older sibling and rubbed his head where the box hit. Kohayo flinched from the contact and mumbled a series of ows before having his eyes catch a tape that had been removed out of the box and laid onto the wooden floor of the attic.
"What is this?" asked Kohayo as he reached towards it, reading what was on the tape plastered onto the case. "I fink it says our names." said Hishiko, trying to read the lettering. Even with Akamatsu's help, she was still unable to decipher her name without struggling a lot. Kohayo looked at it and nodded. "Yeah it says Hishiko Ouma and Kohayo Ouma." nodded Kohayo as he then looked around. "Well maybe this a gift!" exclaimed Kohayo as he started looking for a TV to put the tape in.
"But didn't Christmas already pwass?" asked Hishiko, raising a confused eyebrow at her older sibling and Kohayo shrugged. "Well I'm not very patient. C'mon aren't you curious as well?" asked Kohayo, Hishiko thought of it for a moment and then nodded before following after her older brother, who seemed to be able to find a TV after searching around the attic while Hishiko was deep in thought. Well, as deep in thought as a 4 year old can get to. They placed the recording in and the screen flickered a bit.
"Saihara-kun, I think it's on." said a voice as the video flickered to life and it showed a purple haired male adjusting the camera while another figure was relaxing on the couch."C'mon Koki, it won't be a big deal." said the male, making a playful eye roll at the source of the first voice who was still adjusting the camera. "We are still going to rewatch them when they get older so you don't need to worry that much." said Shuichi and Kokichi nodded. "Yeah, but if these are supposed to be memories, I want to make them perfect!" exclaimed Kokichi and Shuichi let out a hearty chuckle. "No need to worry, we'll make fun of your camera angle when we watch this years later." teased Shuichi and Kokichi let out a pout towards his fiance, "You're so mean Shuichi." complained Kokichi and Shuichi let out a laugh again as he extended his arms to signal the other male to cuddle with him on the couch.
There was an audible sigh from the other male but as he walked closer, he bumped into the camera on accident and it fell on the floor. "Ah.... Oops..." mumbled Kokichi, blushing a bit from embarrassment. "Don't worry, we'll have Miu fix it later." reassured Shuichi as he hugged Kokichi from the back.
The video flickered and then it turned into a different setting, this time there was a sudden change in tone.
"First day after the orphanage, 3.....2.....1!" counted down a voice and then the same shorter male ran in front of the camera. "H-hello. My name is Kokichi Ouma and this is a recording made in...."
The audio flickered and bugged a bit before resuming back to seconds later.
"This is a memory of the first day after adopting our son and daughter!" cheered Kokichi, jumping up and down in the apartment and then there was a voice telling Kokichi to calm it down since the children were speaking. Kokichi turned red a bit. "A-ah... Sorry....." apologized Kokichi as he bowed his head to the other person, most likely Shuichi. "Oh yeah, wanna know a secret. You guys were named after 2 eggs that me and your father had to take care of during highschool. They were his favorites actually, it's kinda cute." said Kokichi, letting out a huff as his face slowly returned back to its original color.
There was a faint whine in the background, probably caused by one of the newly weds. Most likely the other male that wasn't Kokichi, Shuichi Saihara. And the video cut off before it Kokichi was going to apologize for letting out that secret and Kohayo let out a small snort from how ridiculous it was that they were named after.
Then there was another clip playing and it then showed the other person of the relationship and it was obviously Shuichi who seemed to be more older than he looked last time he appeared on the tape, probably around 6 months older, since he really didn't look that different.
"Ah, it's on." said Shuichi as he checked the lens of the camera. "Hopefully this'll look good or else Kokichi is going to give me a pouty look again." said Shuichi letting out a chuckle. "Kids!" shouted Shuichi and then there was the rumbling of footsteps and then there seemed to be 2 children behind the counter, but only one was noticeable since their navy blue hair was poking out compared to the other sibling who's hair was more matted down.
"Daddy!" exclaimed a voice and Shuichi let out a chuckle, grabbing a 2 year old out of the child's hands."How has Hishiko been treating you?" asked Shuichi and Kohayo made a pouty face and said "She was so mean! She bit me!" Shuichi raised an eyebrow, still keeping the smile on his face. "But... That was a lie." added Kohayo, snickering to himself. "Man. what a trickster you are." said Shuichi.
"What are we doing?" asked Kohayo as he grabbed a stool, and stood on it so he can look over the counter. "And what's with those flowers?" asked Kohayo. "Mommy wanted us to bake cookies for him, so we're going to make some before visiting." explained Shuichi as he then gave the young Hishiko a rattle to play with. Hishiko looked around curiously as she started shaking the baby toy aggressively.
"Now, now Hishiko, you won't want to be mean to Mr. Rattle do you?" asked Shuichi and Hishiko stopped rattling it and then gave it a hug, mumbling some incoherent words that probably was an apology. "Anyways let's star-"
The video soon became black and Kohayo stared at the black screen, in his reflection he could notice that he had tears from the ends of his eyes. "Hey Hishiko are you alright?" asked Kohayo and Hishiko shook her head. "I-I don't know..." mumbled the smaller girl while she was trying not to cry. "W-who were they?" asked Hishiko and Kohayo shook his head. "I don't know, but they were probably our parents." said Kohayo.
"But.... Why can't I remember them?" asked Hishiko, looking at her brother with puffy eyes. Kohayo wiped the tear off her face as she continued "The video looked real, but my memory can't remember them." said Hishiko. Kohayo doesn't know as well, he could remember most of the things happening in his life. The Iruma family bringing them in and raising the two of them as their own, going to school with the Iruma's only daughter,
But his memory was foggy at a point in his mind, and everything before that was extremely vague. All he knew was that, when that event caused his fuzzy memories, it had made him develop a concerning level of pyrophobia.
