Chapter 1

Violet's pov

My brother Remus and I make our way down to King's Cross Station after biding our parents goodbye. It took a lot of convincing to get them to allow us to return, with the talk of Voldemort gaining much more power, frightening many wizarding families. My brother and I head our way into the Hogwarts express in search for our friends. My best friend Lily Evans is in my brother's year but we instantly connected on my first day. We walk to the same cart we have been sitting in since their first year as well as my first year. I noticed the brown haired boy with round glasses, James Potter, and the black haired boy, Sirius Black, throwing sweets into each other's mouths. Then I see another light brown haired boy, Peter Pettigrew, laughing at James and Sirius. Finally, I spot my red haired best friend rolling her eyes at the three boys before burying her nose into a book. My brother takes the liberty to open the door and greets his friends, Lily's eyes shoot up at the door and meet mine. "VIOLET!" Lily yells, jumping up from her seat to tackle me into a hug. "LILY!" I shout, dropping my bag and wrapping my arms around her. "I didn't think your parents were letting you come?" Lily says with a confused tone. "Remus convinced them." I explain shortly before sitting next to the door making Lily sit closer to James.

I know she has a thing for him, I also have a hunch he feels the same. My brother sits next to Sirius and Peter, who are sitting in the seats across from us. We all engage in small conversations, through the ride, a little over halfway through the ride our compartment opens revealing a blonde head girl, Marlene McKinnon, she throws herself on me and Lily. "Marlene!" Lily and I cheer at the same time hugging the blonde girl. Behind our blonde headed friend is a black haired boy who I've seen around the castle a bit, but never had a conversation with. Now that I look at him closely he resembles Sirius a bit, but a much more attractive version of Sirius. 'Stop it Violet! No time for boys!' I thought to myself, but boy is that man attractive. "Ah! Regulus, what brings you here brother?" Sirius asks the black haired boy.

'Regulus, a beautiful name. Stop it Violet!' I thought to myself trying to control my thoughts. "Marlene needed help finding Lily and Bella is getting on my nerves, yet again." Regulus explains to his brother before taking a seat next to my brother, sitting directly in front of me. 'Merlin, he's so attractive.' I think while looking at him. "Oh Regulus! I don't think you have met my sister yet. You are in the same year! Violet this is Regulus Black. Regulus, this is my younger sister Violet!" My brother states introducing us to each other. Regulus sticks his hand out to meet mine, I place my hand in his and shake it. "Nice to meet you, Regulus." I state as he slowly forms a smile. "Ah! This is the Violet you lot are always talking about. Well, I've heard a lot of stories of you, Violet." Regulus says, laughing a bit. "All good things I hope." I say letting a small laugh escape my lips. "Mostly." He responds smiling more at me. I lean back against the seat and hear Marlene and Lily whispering. "5 sickles they date by Christmas?" Marlene bets. "5 sickles they date before Christmas?" Lily bets back. "You're on, Evans." Marlene shakes Lily's hands and they laugh together. "Gits" I mutter, only allowing Marlene and Lily to hear.

Once we make it to Hogwarts Regulus and I are the first ones out of the train cart. Regulus and I get caught up talking and we eventually wonder off from the group. Behind us is James and Lily, followed by Sirius and Marlene, then Peter and Remus. I was so caught up in my conversation with Regulus I completely forgot to find Molly, Arthur, Frank and Alice. Oh well, I'll find them later. It is just so easy to talk to Regulus, we get along super well. "How come we have never talked before?" Regulus asks as we stop a few feet from the Great Hall doors. "I'm not sure. I hang out with Lily when she isn't with the boys, but I mostly spend time with Arthur, Molly, Frank, Alice, and Marlene." I explain, to which he begins to nod at me. "Ah yes, the Gryffindors. Well, I spend my time with Lucius, Narcissa, Bellatrix, and Severus." Regulus explains to which I nod slowly. "Ah the Slytherins." I say mimicking his reaction from before, he smiles at me and I feel my cheeks get red. Immediately I look down at my feet allowing my hair to cover my red flushed cheeks.

I hear Regulus laugh before I feel his icy cold hands brush against my left cheek. He tucks my hair behind my left ear and lifts my chin up, making me meet his eyes. At this point I am a blushing mess. "You look beautiful when you are embarrassed." He whispers, stepping closer to me. I'm at a loss of words, I've never been at a loss of words from someone flirting with me. 'Say something Violet!' I scream to myself. He slowly removes his hand from my cheek. "Flirting with my sister already Regulus? You've barely met her." Remus exclaimed as the rest of our friends who were in the same compartment as us gathered around. "I don't need to know her to see her beauty, Remus." Regulus says smoothly shooting a wink at me before disappearing into the Great Hall with Lucius, Narcissa, Bella, and Severus, who just walked by.

I'm standing there dumbfounded at how he was able to get me so flustered and I couldn't mutter a single word. "V, you okay?" Lily's voice broke my trance. "I couldn't flirt back. I physically couldn't get a word out." I explain still shocked at the interaction. "Wait a minute! Violet the flirt Lupin, couldn't flirt or manage to get out a word near Regulus?" James shouts in shock, to which I nod. "Got the hots for my brother, Lupin?" Sirius teases. I glare at James and Sirius who are having a grand time laughing at me. "Just like you got the hots for Lily, Potter. And you got the hots for Marlene, Black." I sneer before grabbing Lily and Marlene by their wrists and walking into the Great Hall. "OOOOH! She got you both!" I hear my brother shout at James and Sirius from the entrance to the Great Hall.

I walk over to the Gryffindor table, as we approach the table I let go of Lily and Marlene's wrists, earning me two smacks from them. I giggle at their flustered cheeks before greeting Arthur, Molly, Frank, and Alice. "Good evening! Sorry I didn't get to talk to you on the train. How was everyone's summer?" I ask as I place myself in between Lily and Marlene. As James, Sirius, Remus and Peter make their way into the Great Hall, James and Sirius walk past me pushing my head down and messing up my hair. "Gits!" I shout as they take their seat. As our table erupts in conversations about the summer and their family, I look up to see the same dark brown eyes that made me blush in the hall five minutes ago. Regulus smiles at me and gives me a small wave. I wave and smile back at him, he folds a piece of parchment and magicked it to fly to me. I grabbed it quickly, but not before it grabbed the attention of Remus, James, Sirius, Lily, Marlene, Molly, Arthur, Frank and Alice. The group of Gryffindors stare at me with anticipation. "Well, open it already!" Marlene shouts, causing the group to hum in agreeance. I roll my eyes before opening the note. "If it is alright with you, I would love to take a walk with you before curfew?" was written on the note in beautiful penmanship. I look up at Regulus who is beaming with anticipation for my answer along with the group of Gryffindors. I smile at Regulus and nod indicating I would. He winks at me again before engaging into conversations at his table. I look away from him and to my fellow Gryffindors who have smiles plastered on their faces.

"What!" I shout at the group. "You fancy him!" Lily, Marlene, Alice and Molly exclaim at once. I blush at their mention of me fancying Regulus. "Bloody hell, my brother moves fast." Sirius states, causing Remus to punch him. "You better be safe Violet." Remus scolds me. "Yeah yeah. I already know." I shoo him away waiting to see what James has to say. "You are falling hard Lupin." James teased. "Shove off James!" I exclaim before eating.

Regulus pov

I watched her open the note I magicked over to her. Which received the attention of the group of Gryffindors she sat with. I notice a faint blush appear on her cheeks. She is absolutely stunning, I never knew that one girl can contain so much beauty. I wait with anticipation for her response. She smiles at me and nods, I smile back widely before shooting a wink at her again. I notice the Gryffindors begin to tease her, she blushes at their comments and makes remarks back to them. "Why are you smiling so much today?" My cousin Narcissa whispers to me. "See that girl with light brown hair and hazel eyes, sitting between Lily and Marlene. Her name is Violet Lupin. And I think she is beautiful, she also just agreed to take a walk with me before curfew." I whisper back to my cousin. I see Narcissa smile at me and laugh. "Me and Violet are close friends. I can't wait to hear about your little evening stroll." Narcissa says before laughing again. "Why didn't you introduce me to her before? She's beautiful Cissy." I ask, to which she just shrugs and begins to talk with Lucius, her boyfriend. I look back at Violet who has her beautiful smile plastered on her face, she is laughing and talking with her friends. I didn't know someone could be this beautiful.
