"An enchantress." I furrow my brows in confusion.

"What? What's an enchantress?" I asked eagerly.

"Shhh, come on, let's go. It's not safe to talk about it out here." My dad says quickly grabbing my arm lightly and walking me back up the path to our house. I have to lightly jog to keep up with his long legs.

We enter the house and go straight to his office. He lets go of my arm and I sit in the chair across from his desk while he goes to the bookshelf. He grabs a small really old looking book and sits down.

"So what's going on?" I asked after a few minutes of silence.

"This book, it holds all the information about enchantresses. A very very long time ago every pack had one. They're very powerful creatures, they stood with the alpha as an equal, they helped guide the alpha to make the best decision for the pack, they were the healers."

"But why would they stand as an equal to the alpha?" I ask and he takes a deep breath.

"Legend says that the enchantress gave man the ability to shape shift into a wolf to protect his land."

"Werewolves." I whispered and he nodded.

"Exactly, this werewolves were born. It was a gift, werewolves then had so many abilities, more than we do now. Wereolves used to be able to turn others into werewolves, but only an alpha could do it."

"What happened to the packs enchantress?" I leaned forward as he turned the book to face me.

"A very long time ago an alpha named Samael thought he was better than his enchantress Silas, so he ordered his guards to kill him in his sleep. Silas knew of the threat so he lay pretending to be asleep when the guards came that night. They raised their claws at silas ready to lash his throat to follow their alphas orders but silas killed them instead before they could even know what was happening. Silas threatened Samael but he did not listen to silas' threats. Samael believed that the enchantresses didn't belong as an equal to the alphas, that they should bow to them instead and be their servants. This angered the enchantresses, as time went on Samael brainwashed all of the original werewolves into turning against their enchantress. It did not end well. Before the enchantresses killed the original werewolves they threatened them that it will no longer be a gift but a curse, that every young werewolf will turn at 16 years of age and it'll be excruciatingly painful, that theyll find a mate but with a catch, the mates can reject each other but severing the bond will hurt worse than anything in this world, they made it to where if the mate cheats or is unfaithful in anyway the other feels the pain of it." I sat taking it all in.

"So, they killed the original werewolves? And cursed us with that? All because of Silas?" I asked and he nodded.

"But if the enchantresses hate werewolves now why would one help Jayda?"

"I'm not sure but we have to figure out what their plan is but most importantly who the enchantress is" I nodded as my dad grabbed some books about our history with the enchantresses.

I paced back and forth in my room thoughts rushing through my mind. I just can't understand why Jayda would make a deal with an enchantress or why one would want to make the deal to begin with. It's been a couple days since we figured it out and have been searching every history book we can get our hands on. I've never read this much in my life.

I groaned grabbing my keys, rushing down the stairs to the front door. I rushed out the door to my car quickly getting inside starting it. I backed out of my driveway and slammed the gas pedal speeding off towards the hospital.

Once I reached the hospital I went up to Jaydas room, and stood at the end of her bed staring at her.

"Why would you do this?" I whispered softly pain filling inside me.

"I don't understand, I wasn't worth saving." I muttered looking down. I looked over to my right out the window to see someone no ordinary human eye would catch.

I ran out of the room to the stairs running as fast as I could to get outside. Once outside I sprinted to the woods picking up a strange scent.

"Who are you?" I shouted into the darkness. My voice echoed and nothing responded.

"What did you do to her? Why did you help her?" I asked catching my breath.

"Why'd you help me?" My voice cracked from pain knowing my mate is dying because of me.

"She loves you." A sweet angelic voice carried to me causing my to gasp. I've never heard such a beautiful voice before.

"And I love her, but now she's the one dying. What did you do? What did you have her do?" I asked desperate.

"All I did was show her how to help you, it was her choice to do it." It replies.

"You're the enchantress aren't you?" I asked in to the nothingness.

"Yes." The voice was right next to my ear. I quickly turned hoping to see her or him.

"Enchantresses hate our kind, I know all about the history with Samuel and Silas." I spoke trying to be confident.

"You don't know all of it. Only what is in your books." It replies.

"What does that mean? What else happened? What more is there?" I pleaded to know.

"I can show you, if you wish." It says.

"Will knowing help me save Jayda?" I ask.

"Perhaps." I could hear them smiling.

"If I do this, the knowledge I learn from it may or may not save Jayda?" I ask gulping.

"Correct." I took a few deep breaths.

"I'll do it, show me what happened."
