Chpt. 35

-Jayda's p.o.v.-

I slowly walked off the elevator to ericas floor fully clothed. Everything was in slow motion again as i walked down the hall to her room. My pocket felt heavy as i held the object i needed.

I walked into her room, everyone gone. I went to her bedside and grabbed her hand in mine, my other hand gripping the object in my pocket.

"I love you" i stared at her. Memorizing her features. She was thinner. She seemed more fragile.

I let go of her hand going to her room door closing it. I pulled the object out and walked back over to her.

"Im sorry" i whispered.

-Ericas p.o.v.-

I gasped loudly as i shot up into a sitting position. I looked around quickly; confused. For once i wasnt in pain, i felt...better.

I looked to the floor Jayda passed out, blood next to her head. She had blood on her lips, as it oozed from her mouth.

"Ohmygod!" I quickly grabbed the remote repeatedly pressing the button for the nurse. A nurse ran to the room in a panic.

"Youre awake! Its a miracle!" She said smiling. I pointed to the floor.

"Jayda!" I quickly spoke panicked.

"Oh god" she breathed out shouting into the hall. "I need help in here!" She rushed to jayda, pulling her over on to her side so she didnt suffocate on her own blood. Several nurses ran in with the doctor. Once they noticed jayda on the ground they rushed over.

"We need a stretcher!" The doctor shouted. My mother, brother, sister in law and father came running into the room horrified. They spotted me and seemed relieved.

"You're okay!" They rushed to my side.

"But jayda isnt" they looked down seeing all the nurses and the doctors working on her. Everyone gasped and my mom squeezed my hand.

"Shes going to be okay" my mom said. More doctors rushed in with a stretcher hosting her up; rushing her out.

I sat there stunned; not knowing what to think. The doctor ran some blood tests to see if the cancer has progressed anymore and figure out what treatment would be best. But it wasnt there; like the cancer never happened. They say its a miracle.

I looked to the ground and saw an object. I got off the bed and kneeled down picking it up.

"What are you doing?" I looked up, quickly standing as i shoved the object into my pocket.

"Nothing" i said as calmly as i could

"Okay, lets go. Mom signed you out" Landon said. I nodded once and quickly walked past him.

We walked down the hall to the elevator, Landon pushed the button and we stood in silence waiting. I looked down the hall biting my lip; they haven't told us anything about jayda. I don't understand what happened.

We got into the elevator still in silence pressing the ground floor. The elevator stopped on the 3rd floor letting more people in then stopped on the ground floor. We got out and walked to the front desk where mom stood. She gave me a smile and embraced me in a hug, I hugged her back.

"How are you feeling?" She asked pulling away from the hug.

"Better." I say and we start out the doors. We made our way to the car and I felt like I was being watched, I turned my head to the side looking at the woods. I didn't see anything. I just shrugged it off and got inside closing the door and buckling up.

The drive home was silent, awkward even. My dad was driving, the last time we spoke I yelled at him to get out of the room of the hospital.

We pulled up to the house, dad put the car in park then cut the engine. No one moved nor spoke a word. I stared at my hands for what seemed like forever when dad took a deep breath and spoke softly:

"I would like a word alone with my daughter" everyone was quick to get out of the car. I sat frozen not knowing what was to come. I gulped in fear.

"Lets go for a walk" he said getting out of the car coming to my side and opening the door. He hasn't done that since Jayda. I slowly got out of the car keeping my head low. He shut the door softly and motioned me toward our old trail we would walk and talk for hours.

I slowly followed him not sure if I should speak or not. He took a deep breath slowly releasing it. I could see him listening to all the sounds around us and I did the same. It was quiet today.

"I wanted to apologise Erica, I should never have told you to break the mate bond simply because your mate is of the same sex as you. There are plenty of same sex mates in our pack." He said and I was shocked.

"There are?" I asked and he nodded.

"Yes, actually, they're very important to our pack, when parents die in battle or die protecting our land and our pack or die however, the same sex mates take in the child or children who is orphaned and raise them as their own. It's very nice of them to do that for our pack." He explained.

"Wow, that's beautiful" I say and he nods.

"Very much so" he agrees. Silence took over as we went deeper in the woods on our trail.

"I want to you about Jayda." He says stopped, my heart sink into my chest knowing that he knows what's wrong with her.

"Is she going to die?" I ask.

"Most likely yes." He says and I felt my heart shatter.

"Why? What is she dying from?" I ask.

"Cancer." He says and I'm stunned.

"What? How? I had the cancer and it just disappeared, how does she have cancer now?"

"Magic, as old as time itself. I'm not quite sure how she did it but she was able to take away your pain and your cancer and transfer it to her body. There's only a few things in this world that could possibly possess that much power to do it. She healed you so that you could live."

"We have to save her dad, she can't die because of me!" I start panicking getting worked up.

"I know, I know and we will." I gasped remembering the object I had found. I quickly grabbed it from my pocket.

"I think she did it with this." I said showing my dad the object, he quickly became intrigued.

"I've only seen those in the history books, where on earth did she get that?" He says softly.

"Well what is it?" I asked eagerly.

"Not what my dear, it's who." He says. I looked at him completely confused.

"An enchantress"
