Chpt. 2

-Erica's p.o.v.--After cheer practice

I jogged over to the bleachers picking up my water bottle. I quickly opened it gulping down half of it.

"Nice job, as always" Lulu the captain said walking up beside me. I smiled at her.

"Thanks, you did good too" I said and she nodded a thanks.

"Do you think we're ready for the games half time?" She asked.

"Totally, I mean we've always nailed it before. Why would this time be any different?" I asked and she smiled while shrugging.

"Yea, I guess you're right" she and I smiled.

"Of course I am" I said and we both laughed at that because normally I'm wrong.

"But seriously, we'll be great" I said slightly bumping my shoulder with hers.

"Oh, here comes your boyfriend" she said and my smile slightly dropped. I totally forgot about Kyle, I have to break up with him.

"Bye girl, be safe" she said and winked at me. My jaw dropped and she laughed as she walked over to the other girls.

"Hey babe" Kyle said picking me up and spinning me around then setting me on my feet.

"Hi Kyle" I said with a small smile.

"What's wrong?" He asked furrowing his eyebrows.

"Nothing!" I said too quickly.

"Come on, I know its not nothing, what is it?" He asked. I avoided his gaze looking around and spotted Jayda on the bleachers looking at me. I looked away like I didn't even notice.

"We need to talk" I said.

"Uh oh, this can't be good" he said sitting down on the bleachers.

"Its just, I think we need to break up" I said and he looked up at me.

"Why?" He asked.

"Does this have anything to do with why you ran off earlier after looking up your test scores, does it?" He asked.

"Yes and no" I said.

"I passed the test and I found my mate" I said and he smiled.

"That's great Erica! I'm so happy for you" he said meaning it.

"Really?" I asked and he nodded.

"Of course. I understand why you want to break up now, you want to be with your mate" he said and I nodded.

"Okay, I guess we're breaking up" he said.

"Thanks for understanding" I said.

"Of course, plus you would be too if I found my mate" he said and I nodded.

"That's true but um, don't tell anyone about this yet okay?" I asked.

"Why not?" He asked.

"Because I just don't want everyone asking me loads of questions I'm not ready to answer yet" I said and he nodded.

"Okay, your secret is safe with me" he said and then his name was called from the coach.

"Oh, I gotta go. See you around Erica" he said and kissed my cheek before he ran off. Why can't all guys be as sweet as Kyle?

I shrugged and gathered my things together into my cheer bag. I walked over to the section Jayda was sitting. She was looking down but I could tell she knew I was there.

"Wanna walk with me to the locker rooms?" I asked and she shook her head no.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing" she mumbled. She must have saw kyle kiss my cheek.

"Look, Kyle was my boyfriend-"

"Oh" she mumbled standing up going to leave. I gently grabbed her upper arm and I faintly felt her flinch but shrugged it off.

"Was as in past tense. I just broke up with him because you're my mate and he isnt" I said and she looked at me.

"Sorry for-" I held my hand up to stop her.

"Don't be sorry, its okay" I said and she gave a small smile.

"Well, I better go change and shower so, I'll meet you outside the girls locker room okay?" I asked and she nodded. I climbed down the bleachers and ran to catch up with the other girls.
