I blinked my tears away. I was walking home after Peter had ditched me for the third time this month. He hadn't even texted or called me to let me know he wasn't going to show. I had to sit in the restaurant and endure the stares of everyone else.

I pressed the call button next to Peter's name. It rung for a few seconds until Peter picked up.

"Oh my god, y/n, I -"

"No, Peter. This is the third time you've stood me up! I thought you were my friend!" I snapped.

"I'm sorry! I had the Stark internship and I forgot-"

"You forgot about me? You seem to be doing that a lot recently. It's always the Stark internship this or the Stark internship that! I'm sick of it, Peter!" I fumed.

"Y/n, this is something important to me! You don't understand-"

I scoffed, interrupting him.

"I don't understand? I know the internship is important to you, but I didn't know it was more important than me."

"Y/n, you're blowing it way out of proportion-"

"Am I, Peter? Am I? I barely even see you anymore!"

Tears began to form in my eyes.

"I don't have all the time in the world for you!" he snapped.

I stopped walking. People looked at me as they passed.

"I never said you had to," I said.

"You're always getting mad at me! I have other things to do and sometimes the internship takes longer than expected-"

"I know that happens! I just want you to tell me when it does! I don't want to be left hanging!" I exclaimed.

I began walking again.

"Y/n, I am sorry. Maybe... maybe this isn't a good idea though," he said hesitantly.

"What isn't a good idea?" I questioned, confused.

"Us... being friends."

I stopped in the middle of the sidewalk again.

"What?" I whispered.

"I don't think this is working," Peter said.

I heard his voice crack slightly. I started walking again.

"Y/n? Are you still there?"

"You just threw four years of friendship down the drain," I whispered, before hanging up.

I ran back to my apartment. I let myself in and collapsed on my bed. Tears began to flow, and they wouldn't stop.

How could Peter do this to me? We'd been best friends since middle school. Had I done something wrong? Had I said something, maybe? Had I -

A phone ringing interrupted my thoughts. I looked at my phone to see Peter ringing me. I threw my phone to the side of my bed and closed my eyes, tears still pouring down my face.

I had hoped that one day, Peter and I could become more than friends. I loved him, so much. Sometimes, I felt like he felt the same way.

I guess I was wrong.

A knocking on my window caused me to look up. I looked over to see Spiderman hanging outside on my windowsill. I walked over in shock and opened my window.

"Hey, y/n," he said.

"How do you know my name?" I asked.

Spiderman sighed.

"Take my hand," he said.

I looked at him in suspicion.

"Just trust me," he sighed.

"You do save my city," I mumbled.

I grabbed his hand and he pulled me out to the fire escape. Suddenly his arm was wrapped around my waist and I was flying through the air. I looped my arms around his neck and placed my head in his shoulder. He finally put me down on the top of a building. As soon as I was on solid ground, I shoved him.

"What the hell?" I yelled. "Are you going to kidnap me? Murder me?"

"Calm down! No, and no. I'm - I need to tell you something," he said.

I crossed my arms and tapped my foot on the ground.

"You have two minutes to explain before I call the police," I warned.

Spiderman grabbed the top of his mask and pulled. My jaw dropped in shock as I saw Peter's face.

"You mother fu-"

"Y/n, please, I can explain," he said.

"Nope. Nuh uh. You don't want to be my friend anymore," I said. "Take me home. Now."

"Can I at least tell my side of the story?" Peter pleaded.

"You already have," I snapped. "You don't want to be my friend anymore."

"Please, y/n," Peter begged.

I hated it when Peter begged.

"Fine. You have one minute," I growled.

"Y/n, this - being Spiderman - is the Stark internship. I - I did forget about you, and I am so sorry. I don't have an excuse. This is the reason we don't really see each other anymore. I'm always busy with fighting crime, but I am trying to find a balance. As for me not wanting to be friends... I do want to be your friend. I just... I'm scared I might lose you. I love you so much, and losing you would kill me," he said.

I stayed silent throughout his whole speech. It all made sense. The internship, why he was always busy, and...

"You love me?" I whispered.

Peter blushed redder than his mask.

"I - yeah," he said shyly.

He rubbed the back of his neck and looked to the ground. A small smile crept its way to my face. I walked over to Peter and placed my hands on his face. Before I could overthink it, I placed my lips on his. Peter froze for a moment before kissing me back. His hands found my waist and my body tingled at his touch.

I pulled away and placed my forehead against his.

"You have one more chance, Parker," I said.

Peter smiled at me.

"I won't waste it. I promise."
