I wandered around my apartment. There was nothing I could do about it. Absolutely nothing.
It had been nine months and three days since Loki left me. Since he took our friendship and threw it in the bin.
I shook my head. I still wasn't over it. I'd quit my job at SHIELD two months after because I couldn't bear to see him anymore. Seeing him stalk down the hall and completely ignore me had taken a toll on me.
I barely even recognised myself anymore. I didn't smile much nowadays. My bubbly personality had disappeared. I worked a 9 to 5 job, and I didn't practice magic anymore.
I sighed, thinking about the times Loki would teach me magic. If I tried, I could probably still use it, but I didn't want to touch the magic at all.
I decided to go on a walk to take my mind off things. I got my keys, purse and phone and headed out the door. I walked out of my apartment building and down the street. I looked around as I walked. I loved living in the city. I loved seeing the tall buildings and all the lights at night. I glanced over to my left and wished I didn't.
The Avengers tower stuck out like a sore thumb. It was big, it was fancy and, of course, it had Avengers written on the side.
I looked away as the memories resurfaced. After I quit, I stopped talking to the rest of the Avengers. Their faces and the memories just hurt too much.
I quickly ducked into a café and ordered something cold. I waited for a few minutes before getting my drink. I opened the café door and smacked into someone, spilling my beverage. I looked up and paled.
Loki stood in front of me with my drink all over him. He gaped at me.
"Y/n?"
The sound of his silky soft voice made me mad. I stomped past him and threw my empty cup in a bin. A hand on my elbow stopped me from walking away. I turned to see Loki holding my arm.
"And what do you want?" I sneered.
"I haven't seen you around the tower in a while," he said quietly.
"Yeah, because I quit," I snapped.
I turned around and walked away from him. He caught up to me a moment later.
"How have you been?" he asked.
How had I been? Terrible, and because he had abandoned me. I had fallen in love with him and he had just left me.
I didn't reply.
"Have you been taking care of yourself?"
I didn't answer once again, giving him the silent treatment.
"Just talk to me!" Loki exclaimed.
"What do you want me to say?" I hissed. "After months of ignoring me, you just began to start talking to me again because of a coincidence. I have nothing to say to you."
Loki looked taken aback. We had stopped walking.
"You made me a better person. Thank you," he said quietly, before vanishing off the sidewalk.
I shook my head and began walking back to my apartment. As soon as I entered my apartment and closed my door, the tears began to flow.
I leant my back against the door and slid down. I cried into my knees.
Stupid Loki. Why did he have to barge back into my life? I wasn't sure if it would have been better if he had ignored me or not. I hiccupped, trying to control myself.
I got up and made it to my bedroom before collapsing on the bed and crying myself to sleep.
A few days later, I got a call from an unknown number.
