The tower was full of the phrase 'Happy Valentine's Day!'
"Happy Valentine's Day, Wanda," Vision said, holding out a present.
"What is Valentine's Day?" Loki asked.
Everyone turned to look at him.
"It's a couples' day," Tony said.
Loki raised an eyebrow.
"You get gifts for your Valentine and take them on a date," Clint explained.
"And your Valentine is your significant other?" Loki questioned.
"Most of the time, yes," Steve said. "Sometimes it doesn't have to be."
Loki nodded and continued reading his book.
"Do you have a Valentine?" Bucky asked.
Loki shrugged.
"I don't believe so," he said. "Now if you will excuse me, I would like to leave this tower while you all do Valentine things."
He got up and teleported away.
"That was suspicious," Tony said, narrowing his eyes at the space Loki had vacated.
"Everything Loki does is suspicious," Clint said.
"It was more suspicious than usual," Tony said.
"I agree with Stark," Thor said. "I think my brother is up to something."
Thor was right. Loki knew exactly what Valentine's Day was, he just needed an excuse to leave the tower to visit his lover.
Loki arrived at her apartment and knocked. Y/n opened the door and broke into a grin at the sight of Loki.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Love," Loki said, making a bouquet of flowers appear in his hand.
Y/n giggled, loving the use of magic. She invited Loki into her home and put the flowers in a vase. Once that was done, she threw herself into Loki's arms.
"I missed you," Loki murmured, one of his hands holding onto y/n's back while the other curled around her waist.
"You saw me two days ago," y/n teased.
"Yes, but I wish to see you every day," Loki said.
Y/n blushed. She loved it when Loki said these things.
"Did you tell the others about us, yet?" she asked.
Loki sighed and shook his head.
"I am not sure how well they would take it, y/n, Dear," he said. "They may think that I am using you."
"But you're not," y/n said, getting slightly frustrated.
Loki sighed and ran his fingers up and down her arms. Y/n leaned up and pecked Loki on the lips.
"Want to watch a movie with me?" y/n asked.
Loki's face split into a grin.
"I'd love to," he said.
Y/n and Loki got comfortable on the couch and started the movie.
On the other side of the city, the Avengers were still pondering where Loki had gone.
"I could track the limiters," Tony mused.
"We are not stalking him," Steve said. "He deserves his privacy-"
"He's at a twenty year old woman's house," Tony said. "Her name is y/n l/n, and her Facebook status says she's in a relationship."
"With who?" Sam asked.
"Doesn't say," Tony said.
"What if it's Loki?" Wanda said.
"We're going to find out," Tony said.
"Uh, no we are not," Natasha said. "We are going to respect his privacy. If he wants to tell us, he can."
Tony reluctantly agreed to Natasha's plan, only because he was slightly terrified of her.
A few hours later, back in y/n's apartment, she and Loki were cuddling on the couch.
"Do you have to go?" y/n asked sadly.
Loki sighed deeply.
"I'm afraid so, my love," he said.
That just made y/n hold on to him tighter.
"Are you sure you can't stay the night?" y/n asked, using her best puppy-dog eyes on Loki.
Loki sighed again, this time in playful frustration.
"You know I can't resist against you when you do that," Loki scolded, bumping his nose against y/n's.
"I know," she said cheekily. "That's why I do it."
Loki rolled his eyes and hugged her tighter.
"They will wonder where I am," he said.
Y/n reluctantly let go. Loki stood up before looking down at her.
"I - perhaps you could meet them," Loki said.
Y/n quirked an eyebrow.
"I - if you would like," Loki said.
Y/n smiled.
"Okay," she said simply.
Loki pulled her up and wrapped an arm around her waist. He then teleported into the middle of the Avengers' lounge room. The Avengers were scattered around the lounge room with their partners. Everyone looked to Loki and the newcomer.
"This is my... girlfriend," Loki said to the group of assembled heroes.
"Please tell me you didn't just pluck her up from the sidewalk," Bucky begged.
"He didn't," y/n assured. "I'm y/n."
"Aha!" Tony yelled.
Pepper and Natasha both smacked him.
"How long have you two been together?" Wanda asked.
"Eleven months," y/n said.
"You kept this from us for eleven months?" Clint asked.
Loki just shrugged.
"Well, welcome to the family," Pepper said warmly.
It was a few of the best words Loki had ever heard.
