Waiting Game

The group stood in the dorm room as Cedric left, Addie blew him a kiss as the door shut behind him. She turned to face her friends still in awe of Cedric.

"Isn't he just wonderful?" she asked swaying at the group in front of her.

"No." answered Scotty plainly. Addie's shoulders dropped at her brothers remark back.

"Well I do. He really cares about me, you know. He loves me, were going to be together forever." She lifted up her arm to show the group the small 'c' on the outside of her wrist, Addie was completely unfazed by the situation.

"What is that Ads? Is that a tattoo? I swear if he gave you a tattoo-"

"Its just a charm Scott... and besides he gave it to me months ago when we first started dating. Calm down." Addie rolled her eyes as she walked away from him to sit on her bed. Ruby and Frankie followed her and sat at the foot of her bed, scared to get to close in fear that whatever she had would jump onto them. Hermione grabbed a chair from the side of the door and pulled it over to the side of the bed and sat down next to it. They sat in silence all staring at each other for a brief minute.

"Adelaide?" Hermione asked, "Do you remember last night?"

"Yeah, I fell out of a tree, broke my arm, hung out with Cedric and then went to sleep. Now I'm here with you guys and this weird group meeting that you've dragged me into. I'd rather be with Cedric, honestly." Addie gave them all weird looks before deciding to grab her book off the bedside table.

"Do you remember anything about Fred?" Frankie asked shyly reaching for the book in Addie's hand.

"I remember how he called me a whore in front of a lot of people, Frank... I remember him making my life hell for weeks, where I didn't even want to see him around..."

"So you don't remember dating him?" Hermione cut in. Addie rolled her eyes and grabbed the book out of Frankie's hand before making herself more comfortable on the bed. The thought of dating anyone other than Cedric made her mad.

"I love Cedric." was all Addie said as she opened her book to ignore them. She didn't answer the question. Scotty reached over and ripped the book out of her hands and threw it across the room.

"YOU. LOVE. FRED." He shouted at her hoping that his voice would knock some sense into her. When he looked at her she didn't even flinch, she just stared back at him.  "You're supposed to be with Fred, Ads!" he shouted at her again, but nothing. She sat there and looked at him with no emotion on her face. This startled him slightly as he backed away from her. She was almost like a zombie.

"I'm going to find Cedric."  Addie stated as she tried to get up but Ruby stopped her from getting off the bed.

"No!" Ruby shouted, making Hermione jump out of her chair. "Please stay, Frankie and I miss you, do... uh... you think you can hang out with us today? You can hang out with Cedric later..." Ruby looked to Frankie with wide eyes hoping she would catch on to her distraction.

"Yeah Ads please? We can have a girls day just the three of us!" Frankie added as she waved Hermione and Scotty away. Addie sat back down on the bed and turned to look at Ruby.

"uh... sure. Sounds like fun... I'll just hang out with Cedric when were done..." Addie sighed as her mind filled with thoughts of Cedric. Frankie took it upon her self to see Scotty and Hermione out through the front door. When Frankie shut the room behind her she grabbed them both in the stairs.

"Listen, Ruby and I will watch her all afternoon. We don't know what time the love potion was given but it was before the party so we'll just wait and hope it wears off, if not, and its not a love potion Ruby and I will come find you okay?" The two Gryffindor's nodded in agreement and turned to continue to walk down the stairs to exit the Hufflepuff Common Room. They both swiftly walked out of the common room trying not to be seen by anyone.
