November twenty-fourth had finally crept up and the whole school was booming with anticipation for the four champions to compete in the first task. Everyone was let out early from classes so that they could make it to the stadium where the dragons were being held. Everyone was clueless as to what the first task was, except surprisingly enough the four champions.  Addie walked with Cedric to the tent, everyone swarmed them to pat him on the back or to wish him good luck. They barely got a second alone before he was pulled into the tent to get further instruction. "Good luck Ced, please be safe, I don't think I could bare to watch you get hurt." Cedric leaned down and gave her a reassuring kiss on the forehead and a wink to let her know that he will be fine.

Addie climbed the steps to where everyone was sitting and plopped down in the first row next to her brothers. "I think I'm going to be sick." she swallowed hard and her nerves started to overcome her. She didn't know why she was so nervous, she didn't have to face a fire breathing dragon in order to win the tournament, but it sure felt like it. Jude and Charlie grabbed each of her hands and held them tightly. She looked for Scotty but he was over sitting with the rest of the Gryffindor's laughing and making jokes. She waited with the rest of the crowd for the task to start, everyone was chattering and laughing, talking with their friends about what they thought was going to happen. Over the voices in the crowd, one in particular stood out, it was Fred. He was pushing through the rows of students laughing and yelling with George, who was as equally as loud as his brother. "Ah there she is!" yelled Fred pointing Addie out in the bottom row. She rolled her eyes in reaction to Fred, and hoped he wouldn't come any closer. He stopped down the steps and walked in-between people before stopping and standing right infron of her blocking her view.

"What do you need Fred, I'm trying to have a good day." She sighed when a smile crept on his face.

He looked at Charlie and nudged his head signaling him to scoot over so he could sit next to Addie. Charlie giggled before moving and George came and sat on the other side of him. Fred quickly sat down before she could move, blocking him from sitting. "Nothing is stopping you from having a good day." he teased, "I'm just trying to watch the first task with my Best Friends Charlie and Jude, so if anything you're intruding on our guy time." He gave Addie a wink before stretching his arms around Charlie and Addie, pulling them into him and giving them a tight squeeze. She hunched forward removing herself from his grasp.

"Fine if you're not going to leave can you at least be quiet and not touch me?" Fred backed up with his hands in the air, showing he wasn't touching her in that moment. He then put his fingers to his lips and zipped them closed and flicked the imaginary key off into the distance. When he came back to himself he put his hand on her knee, and looked off into the distance like he wasn't doing anything. Addie gave him an annoyed half smile before grabbing his middle and ring finger and bending them backward. He yelped in pain and retreated his hand.

"Fine, Fine. But I think you broke my fingers. I'll be sending you the bill." She gave him a look of disgust as she started to grab her things to move spots. "Addie, I'm sorry. Please don't move, I'll try and keep my hands to myself." He beamed at her, fluttering his eyelashes as he made eye contact. She sat back down and they all sat quietly until the starting announcement roared around them. Addie felt her heart race as the announcer said that Cedric was going to be first. All of the sudden Cedric walked through a door into the dragon enclosure. He looked absolutely terrified as the crowd cheer loudly around him, the Swedish Short-Snout turning around and noticed Cedric standing there. Addie screamed, "Run, Ced!" and just like that he took off over the boulders, dodging the dragon that blew flames at him. "Ced the egg! Get the egg!" Addie screamed again gaining his attention, he nodded as he dodged a flame seeking shelter behind a giant boulder. Bagman was giving the crowd a play by play with his every movement, it was only making Addie more anxious. Cedric sat behind the boulder thinking about his next move, A few minutes had passed before Cedric poked his wand out from behind the boulder and pointed it at a rock across the arena from him. He muttered something to himself and as the crowd watched the rock turned into a barking dog. It caught the beasts attention and Cedric made a run for the egg. He made it half way to the egg before the Dragon became bored with the dog, and turned back around giving Cedric his undivided attention. He hadn't noticed the beast turn around until it was too late.  Addie couldn't watch what was about to happen, she was standing at the edge of the railing screaming in horror, trying to get Ced's attention about the dragon, he was too focused on the egg. Without even thinking she turned and threw herself into Fred's shoulder, covering her eyes from the disaster happening below them. Fred grabbed her and held her close, while the dragon spit fire, hitting Cedric in the face burning him. In a split second the match was over, Cedric had successfully grabbed the egg.  He held the egg above his head shaking it in the air with pride, he looked for Addie in the crowd and that's when he saw her. She was still cuddled up against Fred unaware of the things going on around her. Fred made eye contact with him, he shot him a wink before mouthing 'Thank You'.  Cedric clenched his jaw unable to do anything in that moment, pissed, he walked of the rocks into the tent to be healed by Madam Pomfrey.

Fred let go and Addie grunted sorting herself out, embarrassed that she held on to him for so long. "I, uh, should go check on Ced, see how he's doing. I told him I'd find him after he went on." She felt guilt hit her like a ton of bricks as she headed towards the tent where they agreed to meet earlier on. She snuck into an opening on the side of the tent, and crept around until she saw his silhouette through the curtains. Madam Pomfrey was in there with him so she waited until she walked out to sneak in. She quietly walked to the curtain and saw him sitting on a foldable bed, half of his fast was covered in an orange paste. She gasped when she saw him, making his eyes dart open. She ran over to him and engulfed him in a hug, crying at the sight of him.

"Oh my God. What happened out there? I tried to get your attention about the dragon turning around but it was too late!" she sobbed. He held her close for a brief minute but then held her back as she continued to cry. "Well the dragon burned me when I grabbed the egg, I'm sure you would have seen it too, but I guess you were a little preoccupied with Weasley to notice." His eyes flashed red when he looked at her, she could feel her heart in the pit of her stomach. "Hun, nothing happened okay? I couldn't watch you get hurt, I would have latched on to anyone, he just happened to be there. I swear," She lied. When she held on to Fred butterflies erupted in her stomach making her almost weak. She could smell his cinnamon shampoo mixed with his natural musk and it brought back memories of waking up next to him after one of their late night talks. Cedric grabbed her hand knocking out of her thoughts, "Its okay. I forgot how hard this was going to be for you." he cooed, his eyes were back to their deep gray color. He looked lovingly at her before pulling her into a kiss, cupping her face like she always loved.

"Addie, I've been meaning to tell you something." he leaned in closer to her and placed his forehead onto hers. "You don't have to say anything back but I just want you to know." He paused to admire her beauty, "Adelaide, I love you. I've been wanting to tell you for a while and with what happened today and the whole Weasley situation, I just figured you should know." He leaned into kiss her but she backed up dodging his kiss. "What Weasley situation?" she snapped back. He looked at her confused because she didn't know what he was talking about. He started to stutter and trip over his words trying to come up with a way to word his sentence so she wouldn't get mad. "You know Ads, Fred Weasley...Uh... I don't want him getting in the way of us. He's trouble... and... you guys were close and now your not so that's a good thing. I've been trying to show him that your mine and... well... he left you alone for a while and now he's back."

She didn't say anything. She turned around and left him sitting on the bed without explanation. She walked toward the castle without looking back, she could have screamed but she kept it in to grow bigger. Fred was right and that pissed her off more than anything in the world.
