New Years Eve

Most of the students stayed over Christmas break to attend the Yule Ball instead of going home. Addie was the only one out of her family that stayed at Hogwarts, her three brothers left for London as soon as they could. The grounds were quiet most of the days as students stayed in their common rooms or visited with their friend in the Great Hall. Addie quite enjoyed the calm nature of the castle and would spend her time sitting in the windows reading her book. Her common room had become really popular over break so it was often too loud for her to focus.

It was the morning of New Years Eve and Addie was excited for the year to be over. It had been a pretty dramatic fall and she was ready to turn a new leaf. She hadn't seen Fred since he attacked Cedric in his room and if she was honest she didn't really want to see him. She was still so mad about how he had acted toward Cedric that if she would have seen him around she would have cursed him. Addie had been hanging out with Cedric throughout last week and she just enjoyed spending time with him. He never tried to make a move on her or make her uncomfortable, they were just hanging out, as friends.

"Hey Ads!" called Cedric as he walked up to her sitting on one of the benches by the windows.

"Oh hey Ced, what are you up to?" She asked setting her book down to talk to him.

"Oh I was just heading back to the common room, but I was just at the pitch with the team and they were talking about a party tonight at the Pitch for New Years, would you want to go?"

Addie thought about it for a minute before agreeing to go, "Sure, I would love to go with you, sounds like it would be fun!" She beamed up at him, he was looking really good in his quidditch uniform covered in dirt and sweat. "How did you get so dirty Ced? It's not like you touch the ground?" He laughed at her observation to his dirt stained sweater. "We were practicing... but then it turned into wrestling, so that's how I got so dirty. We all got a little carried away." Addie laughed as he described how he body slammed his teammate into the ground, he was waving his arms and putting on quite a show for her, she found it very amusing. He finished up his story as they walked back to the common room. "Okay then, we'll I'll see you in a couple hours for the party!" He waved as she walked up to her dorm room to tell her friends about the party.

A couple hours flew by and Addie was finishing up her hair when Frankie stepped it. "Ruby, I need to tell you something, but if I tell you, you have to pretend you don't know." Frankie pulled Ruby away from Addies earshot so she could tell her what she found out. Frankie was breathing really hard like she had just got back from running a marathon, "So remember the night of our houses party, well I was just in the Great Hall with George and we overheard Cho talking to her friends.... She said that she slept with Cedric the night of the Yule Ball... however, that wasn't the first night they had slept together...She slept with him the right before our house party!" Ruby's mouth fell wide open in shock, "Wait Frank, that means that he cheated on Addie, they had just started going out and she literally slept with him that night. She lost her virginity to him hours after he slept with Cho. Oh my God, I feel so awful. We have to tell her!"

"Tell me what?"

The girls didn't want to tell her, they didn't want to break her heart. "Uh, Addie... shit... How do I say this... Uh, Cedric cheated on you the night he took your virginity... with Cho."

"No he didn't, I was with him all night... I spent the night in his room, when would he have cheated on me?" Addie could feel her heart pounding in her chest, it felt like it was going to break her chest open.

"He slept with her before the party, remember when you couldn't find him..." Ruby took Addies arm and pulled her into a hug. They felt like the worst people on the planet for having telling her that. The girls held her tight and soft sobs came from Addie's mouth, she had never had a boyfriend before Cedric, let alone a kiss and now she was being told that her ex had slept with another girl right before he slept with her.
