Mirae's POV

"This must be it," I mumbled to myself before exiting the car.

I took a deep breath before walking towards the entrance. But I was stopped by a guard.

"Who are you?" he said.

"I was called here." I showed him the business card.

"Okay, you can go inside."

I went inside the building and looked around to ask someone where I should go. Just then a lady came to me.

"Are you Kang Mirae-ssi?" she asked.

How does she know my name?

"Yes... You're right."

"Then follow me please."

I was a little confused but did as she said. We went to the elevator and took me to a specific floor. After walking along the hallway for a while, she stopped in front of a door.

"Mr. Lee is waiting for you inside." By saying that, she left.

I took a deep breath and knocked on the door before walking inside. It was a big room with some couches in the middle. And on one of those couches, sat Lee Hyunwoo with his legs crossed.

He quickly smiled when he saw me coming. "You're here early than I expected... Take a seat."

I did as he said and sat opposite to him. "What do you want to talk about?"

"I'll not take much of your time." He leaned forward. "I want to make a deal."

"What deal?"

"I want you to join me and help me ruin that Choi San's career." I furrowed my eyebrows.

He snapped his fingers twice before a man came out of nowhere and kept a bag full of money on the table in front of me.

"It must be enough for you," Hyunwoo said.

He thinks I'm here for money.

"Why do you hate Choi San so much?"

"Don't think about it too much. You'll be in benefit if you work with me."

"But why do you want me to do that? You could have easily asked any of your men to do that instead of me."

"Because it's you... You're the only one who can do this job perfectly. He'll never think that you'd betray him. Don't you think so?

"...And if I don't, then?"

"Then I might just kill you..." He smirked. "I'm sorry, you were at the wrong place at the wrong time and heard something that you shouldn't have heard. I can't let you go that easily."

—Flashback—

"And no one would believe us without a proof," Seonghwa-ssi said.

—End of flashback—

I tried to stay calm and looked up at him. "I'll do it."

"I knew you'd agree." He smirked.

"But on one condition."

"What is it?"

"You'll just ruin San's career, not harm him in any way."

"Deal!... His career is everything he has anyways." I let out a small sigh.

I know it's a very dangerous decision but I can't let that murderer roam freely as if he didn't do anything. If he's let free, he might do that again. And I can't let that happen.

I'll bring your real face in front of the public.

I was now at the parking lot of San's apartment, still sitting inside the car. I was lost in thoughts.

Will I be okay?...

I breathed out heavily. "Don't think about it too much, Mirae. Just hope it'll be okay."

I exited the car and walked towards the lift. Soon I reached inside the house. I went to the living room and searched for San who was no where to be seen.

"Did he go somewhere?" I mumbled to myself.

I went to his room but he wasn't there too. So I thought to call him. He picked it up quickly.

"San-ah, where are you?"

"The room at the end of the hallway."

"Ah, I thought you went out."

"Mirae-ah, can you come here please?"

"Uh?... Ah, okay."

He ended the call. "That room... He told me not to go to there."

I went to that room and saw him sitting on the bed which was in the middle of the room. The room seemed to be a normal one.

"Why did you call me here?" I asked. "You got mad at me when I came here last time."

"But now... I wanted to let you in."

"Why?..."

"This is my mom's room. I always come here when I feel alone..." He weakly smiled.

"Ah..."

He ran his hand over the sheets. "It feels like she's with me whenever I come here. The sheets smell like her so I feel very comfortable."

He then picked up the photo frame that was on the side table. "She was the happiest when I did my debut. She looked so proud then. And I felt so happy on her seeing her like that."

A tear managed to slip down his eyes as he looked at the photo. It was a photo of his mom and him.

"But a year later, that happened... I couldn't take it. I never thought about losing her. I've had never imagined something like that would even happen in my life... I wanted her to stay with me forever."

I too couldn't hold back my tears from falling down my eyes as he continued.

"I wanted to make her more proud. I wanted to see her smile like she used to do when she was with me. I wanted to be a good idol just because of her. But now..." His voice cracked.

I went to him and pulled him into a hug as he silently sobbed on my shoulder.

"But now, I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm slowly losing the will to continue this... Now I don't think I'm that San who used to make his mom proud." I hugged him tightly.

"No... You're doing great. You were good back then and now too. Your mom should be very proud on watching you from up there... So don't ever think of giving up. Just keep it up."
