Chapter 45 : Lost

Hyunwoo's POV

Years later, we all finally made our debut. Me and San debuted as an idol, and Nari as an actress. In the beginning, we had a very hard time but as long as we were by each other's side, we were able to get through it together.

We were still in our rookie years when I heard something heart breaking. I heard the dating rumour about Nari with another actor Park Doyoung.

I knew that my love won't be reciprocated but still it hurt my heart a lot. I was still trying to move on when something more heart breaking happened.

That day, I was invited by Nari's parents for a dinner. I reached there late as I had a shoot. I was on my way to them when I heard a very familiar voice.

I turned towards the voice and saw Nari standing some distance away from me. Then I noticed that Park Doyoung was also with her. But the atmosphere was a little different, she was sobbing.

"Why is she crying?" I mumbled to myself.

"It's really annoying when you do that. Is it a big deal to not text you back? I'm sick and tired of it." I heard Doyoung say to Nari.

"What?... Then why did you date me in the first place?"

"I thought you would be my type but I was wrong..." He sighed. "Okay, let's break up. I don't think you would want to see me again."

He was about to walk away but turned back to face her. "And with this attitude of yours, I don't think anyone would like to date you."

I clenched my fist on hearing that and was about to go near them when San came out of nowhere and pulled Nari towards him.

"Kim Nari, let's date."

That one sentence from San broke my heart into millions of pieces. He knew that I liked Nari but still he did that. I never thought my best friend would betray me like this.

Since then I started to hate him. But my hatred became more when my parents also started appreciating him instead of me. They too always loved him as if he was their own son.

"WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?" dad said and gave me a tight slap. "Getting caught in a drunk and drive case... Do you want to ruin my reputation?"

"Dad, why don't you understand me? Why do you always take that Choi San's side? I'm your son, not him."

"Are you crazy? Why are you creating problems?" He slapped me again. "I wish San was my son instead of a trash like you."

Those words hit me like a gunshot. I was getting teary but held it back. "So you're saying, no matter what, you'll always take his side, right?"

"Is there anything you can do properly? I can't believe a trash like you is my son."

"Since I ended up like this..." I glared at him. "I'll show you what a complete trash is."

I couldn't tolerate it more so I thought to steal all the precious things from San and even get rid of him.

Mirae's POV

"So one day my dad organised a party at Areum Hall," Hyunwoo said. "That day, I took my first revenge. I was the one cut the rope of the chandelier... Someone caught me doing so and tried to stop me, but I got rid of him first before finishing my job."

Party at Areum Hall?... Got rid of someone?...

"But unfortunately the chandelier fell on his mom. Tch... He just got lucky that day."

"W-Who was that someone who tried to stop you?"

"I don't know. He was just a part-time worker there, I guess."

My guess was right!...

—Flashback—

"It seemed like he was stabbed by a knife and due to it, there was a lot of blood loss. Sorry, we couldn't save him. His condition was very serious when he was brought here."

—End of flashback—

That was what the doctor had said that day when I went to the hospital to see my dad.

So the whole thing went like this. That day, at the party, when Hyunwoo was cutting the rope of the chandelier, my dad might have seen him doing that and tried to stop him.

Hyunwoo, in order to get through it, stabbed him with that knife and finished his job. And San's mom might have noticed the chandelier and saved him.

If I'm not wrong then this was what happened there... That day, two people lost their lives. San lost his mom and me, my dad...
