Understanding

Gray's POV

I woke up and realised that Natsu never came home. I looked around for him but couldn't find him. I went to the guild and he wasn't in there. I started to panic but calmed down when I saw pink hair by the side of the guild. I ran towards him and he was sleeping. Had he been here all night? I picked him up and carried him home. I put him on the bed and he woke up. He opened his eyes and noticed me. He looked down and walked out of the room. He went into the bathroom and I got slightly worried. He turned the shower on and I calmed down. After about 20 minutes later I heard the bathroom door open and Natsu came out of the bathroom. He was only wearing a towel and he looked for clothes to wear. I looked at his back and it was the only part on his body that there weren't scars on.

"I can feel you looking at me." He said. "Sorry..." I whispered. He was shaking. Is he scared to talk to me? He picked a hoodie and some Jean's on and went into the bathroom. (He obviously got pants and that lot) I heard barking and I went towards it. Luna was barking at Natsu. He kept refusing to look at me for some reason. Natsu shut the door so I went back into my room. After about 2 minutes Natsu came out of the bathroom and walked to the kitchen. Is he now avoiding me? I walked into the kitchen and saw Natsu sat on the counter. He was daydreaming and looked quite sad.

"Are you okay?" I asked. He looked at me and sighed. He got up from the counter and walked into the bedroom. "Are you avoiding me?" I asked. I followed him into our room and he sighed again. Luna ran into our room and sat on Natsu's lap. "Taking your own life is technically murder but you don't get punished for it, others do." He said. "How?" I asked in conclusion. "Because they have to deal with the pain that you couldn't deal with anymore." He said. "Okay? Why are you even thinking about that in the first place?" I asked in a worried tone. "I don't know." He said in a numb voice. He put a pillow over his head and I sighed.

"What would you do if I died?" He asked. That was a random question. "Are you okay?" I asked. "I'm fine." He said. "You sure?" "Yeah." He said. "Then stop talking about death, you sound like you want to die." I said. "I do." He said. I looked down and realised what he was trying to do with the pillow. I took it off him and he rolled his eyes. I noticed paper with writing on in Luna's collar. I took it out and Natsu noticed. He seemed to know what it was but ignored it. He went on his phone so I decided to read the writing on the paper. It was Natsu's handwriting.

'Gray, I know that you're gonna read this when you see it so whatever, but I want you to read it

I can't deal with the pain anymore, it's too much. I always mess up on missions and everyone gets mad at me. I'm a waste of space. No one likes me. Apart from you. If you weren't here then I wouldn't be here as well. You are the one keeping me alive Gray. So thank you for being there for me. You're probably reading this because you're mad at me. I try my hardest to not cut but it's so hard. It gets rid of the pain but causes more pain. I hope you understand.

I'm sorry that I let you down...

I looked up and noticed that Natsu was now sat by the PC playing minecraft. I got up and hugged him from behind. "I understand." I whispered calmly. I looked at what he was doing in the game and he was collecting some wood. I smiled and sat back down on the bed. "I'm going to sleep." I said. "Okay." He said and continued playing his game. I got under the duvet and got comfortable. I closed my eyes and eventually fell asleep.
