Two hours. Two hours had passed when Dean Strauss came out of her office, stone faced and stoic. I looked up, standing up at the same time as JJ as she came out to speak to us.

"I talked to my superior and this is not my decision, but we're not firing you."

A wave of relief hit my body as I lost my balance, practically falling into JJ's arms. She wasn't going to lose her job.

"If it was my choice you would be gone due to the way you spoke to me today. Unfortunately I am outranked and I don't have the power to fire you. The people who do have the power don't want you to leave because of your past and current transgressions. They want you to continue teaching at this establishment due to you being the only one qualified to teach technical communications."

She mumbled something incoherent, to which JJ quipped, "I'm sorry Erin, what was that? I couldn't understand you. Please, say that again, share with the class. If you said it, it must be important."

I had to hide a laugh as Dean Strauss glared at JJ, who turned on her teacher glare. Everything about this moment was quite funny, and it was taking all of my self restraint to not laugh at the hilarity of it all. It seemed like forever until Dean Strauss mumbled a bit louder, this time so JJ and I could hear.

"They don't want to look for another professor just yet." she cleared her throat as she turned to me. "As for you, you can finish out the semester or withdraw, but you can not get credit for Ms. Jareau's class due to ethical reasons. You will have to retake the class."

"That's fine by me." I shrugged. "I'll fill out the withdrawal request."

"That is all, for now. You two are free to go."

JJ grabbed my hand with a smile as we walked out of the Dean's office, the two of us deciding to go out for dinner. We didn't have to hide anymore, since I wasn't going to be her student. We could finally be a couple, and everything was falling into place.

Just as it should be.

We decided to go Downtown and go to Max's on Broad, which JJ had raved about before. She also insisted on driving this time, the whole night being her treat. We got a table for two and sat down, the conversation becoming normal as it had been in a long time. I looked through the menu, my eyes widening at the prices. JJ couldn't help but laugh, telling me it was okay and that I could get anything that I wanted. I skimmed through the entrees, trying to figure out what the lowest price was. I ended up going with the truffle mac and cheese, ordering a shirley temple to go with it. JJ chuckled at me, knowing that I was going for the least pricey things. She ordered the shrimp pasta, getting a glass of Merlot on the side.

Funny enough, our conversation drifted to books, which was the first time we had talked about it. I told her about my favorite authors such as Jaymin Eve and Bianca Scardoni, and she told me about how she fell in love with the literary styles of Laura Weiss and Sandy Hall. How she would read when she was younger to distract herself from her sister's constant fighting with her parents, and fell in love with books at a young age. Our dinner was brought out to us and I gasped, the presentation being impeccable. We thanked the waiter and dug in, my taste buds being overwhelmed with the tastes. It was incredibly delicious, and I was surprised that I had never come here before. But then again, I was a broke college student. The rest of the night was amazing, and we decided to take a walk and go get dessert from a local mom and pop shop, whichever one we ran into. JJ refused to let me see the bill, and I dramatically rolled my eyes as she took the little black folder thing away from me before I could put my hand on it. Walking out of the restaurant she grabbed my hand, placing a kiss on my lips as we walked through Downtown.
