The next morning, I woke up and saw that I was not dreaming, Devon was back in my bed with me. Laying here I could not help but wonder if this is all happening and that I am not imagining it.

Devon looked over at me and he pulled me into him, laying my head on his chest, "this is what I missed baby" he whispered as he kissed the top of my head.

"What about your job?" I asked, turning my head to look at him, "I was able to get a transfer, I am now a detective in the good city of Nome" he said.

I sat up, "Did you really? You're just not messing with me, are you?" I asked hoping he was being for real. "I'm for real baby, this way I'm close to you and that way we can be together if that is still what you want?" he asked, looking at me a bit worried.

"Of course, I still want that" I said excitedly. We spent the next two hours making love to each other like it was the first time.

Two hours later we got up and spent the day doing everything together, making breakfast, taking care of the animals, making sure the garden barn was thriving in this weather.

After the next week we developed a routine that suited us exactly right. Devon did not have to be into work for another two weeks, when he transferred, he used the last of his paid time off to get settled.

Four days out of the week he would stay in town and the other three days he would be living with me, during the summer months, it would be a lot easier for him to travel.

I was okay with the schedule right now; it gave us some time for each other and during his stay, out of town, we would video call every chance we had. This was a positive change of pace.

Three months had passed since Devon showed up on my doorstep again, he had fully moved in and was here most of the time. Once in a great while since it was now becoming the warmer months he would need to stay in town.

Tim always joked that we should buy our own plane for this jumping back and forth, but I knew he was happy for me. Tim always worried about me being all alone in the unknown area as he would call it.

The animals were a lot happier now that they had their pastures again. Who would blame them, at least this way during the day they could run about and enjoy the sun.

The barn door that leads to the outdoor pasture I kept open, that way they could get out of the elements if needed plus they could go into their stalls and eat or drink if wanted.

I made sure they had the best of their world that they could want or need.

During this time, I could leave the garden barn door open and not have to worry about the plants getting too cold. The sun was hitting the darken panels so it kept it nice and warm in there until I could plow the fields to plant.

Devon kept offering to hire some help for me, but I would just simply refuse it. "I have done it for the past few years with no help babe, I don't need any more help, the only time I would is if I couldn't get out there" I said one morning fixing breakfast.

"Well, I know one way to get you to let me hire some help if we made a baby together" he said wrapping his arms around me and resting his hands on my stomach.

Leaning against him, "we aren't even married or talked about that, and you are already talking about having a baby" I said laughing "only you Devon."

He turned me around to face him, "Athena, you know I love you, why do we need to get married?" he asked. I knew it was a subject that he still feared that I would not marry him since the last ex left him right before they were to get married.

"Because I would love to be your wife one day" I said seriously. "I'm not going to leave you like your ex, you have got to trust me at some point, unless you don't want me as your wife" I said backing up looking at him.

Starting to wonder if that was it, one thing I was not sure about when it came to Devon. "Sweetheart, that isn't it at all, I want us to be married, but I want to ask you when the time is right, I was just making a statement that I would love to have a baby with you" Devon said as he walked up to me.

I wrapped my arms around him, "I'm sorry, just sometimes I get emotional over things that maybe I shouldn't" I said laying my head against his chest.

I called Tim on the CB, "I'm here Athena" Tim said, "when you take Devon into town I need to go also, but a return trip same day if that is possible?" I asked.

"Of course, it is, the weather is looking great that day, but we will keep an eye out on it as we normally do, if all is well, I will see you tomorrow" Tim said. "You coming to Nome with me babe?" he asked.

"I need to grab a few things and I want to see Doc, on a couple of things about the vitamins he has me on" I told him and went to the kitchen to get something to eat.

I could tell Devon was not sure if he were to buy that or not, but he did not say anything which I let out a breath hoping he would not keep asking about it. I needed to see Doc. To see if I in fact was pregnant.

I am a month late, but knowing that in the past that has happened, I was not to worry but also, we have been having a lot of sex and not every time were we careful.

I would love to have a baby with Devon, nothing would make me happier, except to be his wife as well. I have fallen so in love with this man that I never even dreamt that could be possible.

But here I am fixing something to eat, pregnant and living with a man that I would die for to protect him. Funny how things in life change over a choice one makes without thinking too much about it.
