Chapter Twenty-Nine

"I don't give a shit what you think Devon, she is no longer yours and you gave up the child even before he or she is born, I have taken over that role and I am proud to" Tom said as he walked towards the house.

I was standing at the window listening to everything that was being said, "so everything Devon said was true, Tom and his brothers are the same way, but I can see why they were forbidden not say anything, it was a death warrant if they did" I said to no one in particular.

I could not fault Tom for this, and I was not even upset with him, Devon yes, I was still pissed at everything, he and I were still done, my life was with Tom now, and I was happy with that.

Tom walked in and saw me standing there looking out the window, "Ath?" he asked cautiously, I turned to face him, "I'm not upset at you, my big bad wolf" I said and smirked at him.

He let out the breath he was holding and walked over to me and wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to his chest and I wrapped my arms around his waist.

"Is it that bad that you would be killed over if one of you told without the council knowing?" I asked, "yes, whoever told would be killed and so would the person who was told" Tom said as his head was resting on my head.

I shuddered at the thought of that, "even though he talked to the council, me and my baby will be okay, won't we?" I asked, getting a bit nervous.

"Yes, I will confirm with the council tonight and if what he says is true then they will want to meet you to make sure you are in fact pregnant" Tom said looking out the window at his brothers standing there staring down Devon.

Tom took his one hand and placed it under my chin and lifted my face up to him, "no matter what I will protect you and I want to claim you as my mate, but that is up to you my little one" Tom said looking down at me.

I could feel how serious this was, do I want to be his in that way, "yes" I heard my voice say without knowing I was speaking aloud. "I want to be yours my big bad wolf" I said to him.

He bent down and claimed my lips, we wrapped our arms around each other as we kissed, never wanting to let go of each other.

"Doesn't he ever give up" I heard Tom say, I looked and saw Devon walking this way on a mission. "Apparently not" I said. Devon did not even bother to knock, he just walked right in.

"Excuse me, you knock and wait, this isn't your home anymore," I said walking towards him, "Did you just agree to be his mate?" Devon asked, "even though its none of your business yes I did" I said putting my hands on my hips.

I was getting tired of this treatment from him. "Athena, you can't, you have no idea what you're doing" Devon said walking towards me.

"I really don't care Devon, all I know is Tom was here for me when you walked out, hell he was here for me when you were here, and I want to be with him" I said looking Devon straight in the eyes.

Devon looked at Tom, "you know the council is going to have a fit about this" Devon said to him, "I'm sure they are going to have a grand old time with you since you got her pregnant then left her to fend for herself" Tom spit out at him.

Devon did not say a word, "oh let me guess you didn't tell them that it was you that got her pregnant, did you?" Tom asked almost laughing, "You dear friend are in for a rude awakening from the council." Tom said while standing beside me.

"Devon, just get out" I said and walked to the kitchen for a cup of coffee. I needed something that resembles my normalcy.

"This isn't over, not by a long shot, Athena will be mine as well as our baby" Devon said as he walked out and slammed the door. I sat down at the kitchen table, "this is starting to be too much on me" I said as I laid my face in my hands.

Tom kissed the top of my head, "everything will be okay baby, trust me" was all he said as he went into the kitchen to start dinner for me.

Derek and Darryle both walked in close to dinner time, they each sat on either side of me, and both rubbed my back. "Ath, it will all work out, you and the baby will be with Tom, and we will all be one big happy family," Derek said smiling at me.

"You know I love you guys and thank you for making me feel better" I said, and I hugged them both, I really did mean it, I loved them as if they were my own brothers.

"Don't get too comfortable," Tom said looking at his brothers, I had to laugh, only my big bad wolf would get possessive over me with his brothers who only laughed and let go and we were so ready for dinner.

After dinner we bypassed doing the dishes and all gathered around the fireplace on the couch and Derek laid on the floor and Darryle sat in the chair to watch a few movies.

It was a perfect ending to a weird ass day, these kinds of nights I loved and cherished.
