We walked a bit longer and the waterfall came into view, Eternal stopped at his normal spot waiting for me to get off so he could go eat his grass. Tom jumped down and helped me get down.
I tied up the reins and let Eternal find his grass, Tom and I walked over to the waterfall, and I found a perfect spot to sit on a patch of grass near the water where the sun was shining down and reflecting on the water.
It looked like a spot out of a magical fairytale, Tom sat down near me, "Ath, can I ask you a question but if it's too personal let me know" he said. I looked at him, "Tom you can ask anything" I said.
"Why are you with Devon?" he asked looking at the water. I took a breath, that was a personal question but a fair one really. "Well, I fell in love with him, we spent two weeks together during a snowstorm and our relationship developed during that time" I said looking at the water.
"He felt right, I know it sound weird but after my husband got killed, I didn't think I could ever love again or have those feelings, it was a few years of living here alone, thinking this was what I wanted.
Until Devon showed up one night in a snowstorm and from there, I learned that I could still have those feelings and that it was okay for me to love again and to be happy with someone" I said quietly.
"You do realize Ath, that there is an entire world out there and that one man might be who you love but there are others that might be better suited for you, I'm just saying. Nothing against Devon he's a good man and hopefully a good father" Tom said.
I looked over at Tom, "Who do you think would be better for me?" I asked curious and a bit irritated at his statement.
"Anyone, no one, I just mean don't always put everything into one basket before you have experienced life again is all I'm saying Ath, I'm sorry if I've upset you that wasn't my intention" he said as he went to stand up.
I grabbed his hand, Tom sat there looking at me, "I'm not mad Tom, just not used to really being able to have conversations with another male about this. It's simply different and honestly, I hear what you are saying, and I appreciate your honesty" I said.
I did not let go of his hand and he did not try to move it either, we sat there holding hands watching the water and listening to the bird's chirp in the distance.
"Isn't this a cute little picture, a man holding hands with my fiancé" Devon said stepping out of the tree line. I jumped a little, "are you spying on me Devon?" I asked.
"Maybe, but good thing I did, seeing my woman hold hands with another man" he spat, "I have done nothing wrong so you can go take your attitude and shove it up your ass" I said sitting there not even looking at him.
I could tell Tom was getting pissed but he did not say or move. He sat there waiting till I needed him, "I think it's time to go back to the house and we can have this discussion in private" Devon said.
I started to laugh, "I will go back when I am ready, right now, I am enjoying my spot with a good friend and my horse is grazing" I said and closed my eyes feeling the sun on my skin.
"Well then you won't mind me staying here with you then" Devon said I looked over at him, "no I don't mind at all, in fact why don't you sit and be quiet so I can enjoy my spot" I said.
Tom busted out laughing, I knew he was trying hard not to but still he did, and I squeezed his hand with a smirk on my lips.
That is the one thing Devon has yet to realize about me, I am no push over and I will never be told what to do. I was never in the wrong and holding my friends' hand was not a sin.
Devon better learn early on, if this was going to work between us that I am my own woman period.
I could feel Devon sit down next to me and I could feel his anger towards me. "What the hell is so funny Tom" he snapped.
"You trying to control Ath, she is like a hurricane nothing can control this one. She would make an excellent Luna with her will power and strength" Tom said.
"Luna, isn't that the alphas mate?" I asked still with my eyes closed, "yes she runs the pack with the alpha, she is just as powerful as he is" Tom said. "That would be a wonderful thing wouldn't it" was all I said, and I laid back down on the grass to enjoy the sun on my skin.
