An hour later lunch was ready, the three guys walked up to the door and knocked. "Come on in" I called out. All five of us sat around the table eating grilled cheese and a salad.

"I'm surprised you don't have a couple cows for milk "Tom said as he finished his lunch. "Don't remind her" Devon said laughing, I smirked "that's next on the list, that way I can make my own butter and have fresh milk" I said smiling.

"So, you built this all up yourself?" asked Derek, I sat back while Devon gathered the plates. "I did, when I bought this place a few years ago, it had two rundown barns and an old sad house. I spent the first year fixing the house and the rest of the time on the barns" I said finishing my tea.

"While all three of you guys are here let me show you around" I said as I stood up. All three brothers stood up and followed me to the see where the bathroom was.

With your new place, the only way to heat it is by fire, so I will make sure there are two fireplaces in the home along with a stove that will have a fire inside of it to be able to cook with.

"There's no electricity either?" Tom asked, surprised. "Not this far out, I have a generator that keeps filled by the tank out back but that is used only for my water heater and my fridge other than that I use it for odds and ends when need be."

The brothers looked at me like I was something new that was never seen or heard of.

"Sorry to sound in awe, but a woman on her own before you met Devon was doing all of this on her own and managed to survive here in the wilderness of Alaska with no issues" Derek said.

I smiled "I pride myself on all of this, but Alaska called to my soul and so did the wilderness, this is home" I said shrugging my shoulders, like it was no big deal to what I did or was doing.

To me it was second nature, just like breathing. It called to me, and I just followed what I felt was the right thing to do.

Devon came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me as I leaned into his chest with my back. "Devon man, you are one luck man, this woman is a rare treasure" Derek said looking at me.

"Don't I know it, and it is all thanks to a snowstorm, an idiot out in it and a woman brave enough to let him in" he said as he kissed the top of my head. I had to laugh at that statement.

We all went back to the family room and sat around and talked for most of the day, there was no rush and I wanted to get to know the guys better before just letting them lose on the property.

"Have you had any issues with wildlife or trespassers around here?" Darryle asked. I shook my head. "No, I get the occasional moose and such but nothing major that would cause an issue" I said.

"As for trespassers, unless it is an idiot out in a snowstorm, nothing. But we have a ranger station slash airport that is five miles away to the north that if I need help, I call them on my radio."

"Next time I go into town, you three can go with me, that way if there's anything you need or want best time to get it, as once you're here, you're sort of stuck as Nome is around fifty or so miles away" I said getting up to get more iced tea.

"Sounds good to us" Tom said, as he got up to help with the iced tea, I could feel Devon watching Tom as I was in the kitchen and Tom was only a foot away from me.

I knew the guys would not try anything, do not ask me how I know this, just a gut feeling I guess you could say, but I also know my Devon. That man is protective which I love.

Tom helped me bring the pitcher of iced tea back to the family room, where we enjoyed ourselves over the iced tea.

Before I knew it, it was getting to be time for dinner. For us and for the animals, right on cue the horses started to whine, letting me know I was running a bit behind.

I laughed aloud, and the three brothers looked at me weirdly. "Sorry, I could hear my horses and they know its dinner time and I'm running late" I said as I stood up.

"Sweetheart, how about you start dinner and I'll get the brothers to help me with the animals" Devon said, looking up at him, there was something in his eyes that I could not make out.

"Sounds good to me, after dinner I'll go out there and see my babies" I said smiling and got on my tiptoes and kissed Devon. I went to step back, and he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me in and kissed me with so much passion I forgot about dinner for a moment.

After he let me go and lightly swatted my ass, I laughed and went to the kitchen as the four of them went outside.

I stood at the back door watching the four of them walk to the barn, Devon had a walk to him that was all business. He had confidence in him, and it showed how he walked and held himself.

He was one man that I would not bet against.
