Your name: y/n l/n. You go by your mothers last name after the split.
Brothers name: Kazuko l/n.
Mothers name: Megumi l/n.
Dads name: Alex Sato. (Hes half Japanese half American).
"Don't go" he mumbles, holding onto your shirt as he looks down avoiding eye contact. You took the hand of your best friend. Surprisingly he didn't pull away since he was a massive germaphobe.
"Omi I don't want to go, but my dad is making me go." You were both close to tears. Your dad found a new job in America and was taking you with him. You wanted to stay in Japan with your mom and brother but he insisted on taking you.
"Promise me you'll come back" he mumbled.
Tears fell down your face as you hugged him tightly. "I promise".
"Come on y/n, we have to go" your Dad called impatiently from the car.
Just as you turned to leave your friend placed a handkerchief in your hand with the initials S.K. "Keep it so you don't forget me" he said, tears threatening to fall.
A huge blush formed on his face when he felt your soft lips on his cheek. "Don't forget me either okay? I'll be back no matter what" you said, determination on your face. Without another word, he nodded and you left with your dad for America.
*8 years later*.
You looked out the window of the plane that was taking you back home. In your hands was the handkerchief of the boy you wanted to see the most, other than your family of course. You were 16 now and coming back to live with your mother and brother.
You never really did get along with your Dad after he forced you to move away, the split with your mum wasn't helping either. You always resented him quietly for it though you had to admit, America wasn't so bad. You'd learned how to play volleyball and was pretty well known for being one of the best female spikers your age.
After years and years of arguing and fighting you finally had an excuse to come back to Japan. A private academy, famous in Japan for being one of the best had offered you a full scholarship to play there and much to your fathers annoyance, he knew it wasn't an opportunity you should pass up on. So here you were, on a plane back to where you grew up. Your Japanese was still very strong since you spoke it at home and when you talked to your mom on the phone though you were also fluent in English.
The plane landed and you rushed out to be greeted by your mom and older brother. "Y/n she cried as she ran to you and hugged you tightly. Tears welled up in your eyes as you hugged her back. "I missed you mom" you croaked.
"Well if it isn't miss #1 in her year group" your brother chuckled, pulling you into into him as he hugged you. Even though your brother was 20 and in college you both got along really well and were an unstoppable force together. "Kazu!! I missed you so much" you cried, squeezing him hard. "Woah you're strong. Tall too" he chuckled.
You stood proudly in front of them. True, you were taller than most girls, standing at 5'8. After training at volleyball for 8 years of course you'd get big and strong. "Yeah still smaller than me though" he teased, ruffling your hair. This was also true, Kazuko stood at about 6ft though he didn't play any sports, instead opted to part time modelling.
"Ahhh I'm tired" you yawned, picking up one of your bags and Kazuko and your mom held the other 2. The rest of your stuff was coming via shipping so you only packed the stuff you'd need immediately like your favourite clothes and makeup etc. The most important thing you kept at hand was your hand sanitizer and face masks though since the outside world was filthy, something you'd discovered in America.
You finally arrived back home, the same home you'd lived in 8 years ago much to your excitement. You entered your old room, giggling at how childish it was though a new bigger bed was installed and a desk replaced the empty space you used to have. "I figured you'd need these since you're starting school in a few days" your mom said, appearing at the door. You smiled and hugged her again. She really was the best mom ever.
"I really missed you" you mumbled into the hug. "I missed you too honey" she said, returning the hug. Just as she was about to leave you remembered something. "Oh yeah, mom?"
"Hm?" She replies.
"Does Omi still live here?"
She thought for a moment. "Omi? Ohh you mean the boy you played with before?"
You nodded fiercely, making her laugh.
"Well I haven't seen him in a while but I'm certain their family still live around the area. Eager to see the boy huh?" She asked, giggling.
"I promised I'd come back, of course I am" you replied, getting flustered for some reason. "It's getting late, you should sleep."
You nodded, saying goodnight before getting into bed. You noticed some dust particles in the air and you just couldn't get to sleep. "Looks like I'll have to do some cleaning" you mumble before eventually falling asleep.
