Alive or Dead

Marina's POV

"Where've you been?" Lafina asks as I walk in through the door. I close it behind me

"Lizzy's" I raise my shoulders a bit to play it casual. I know I'm in trouble.

To be honest, I even know that I should've stayed here with Lafina because I know how I'd feel if she left me here alone with him.

"Well I'm glad you've enjoyed yourself" she crosses her arms. I frown a little. I hate feeling like I've done something bad to her.

"I'm sorry Laf"

"It's okay, you can make it up to me today and spend all day with him." She looks at the clock "lucky you, it's only 10 in the morning. You have the whole day"

"Don't be such a bitch" I make a face at her.

I had such an amazing day with Lizzy yesterday. I even spent the night at hers for the first time. She gave me some of her clothes to sleep in, and it was a little cold at night so she cuddled me until we went to sleep. It was so good.

I actually spoke to her parents again this morning. They were there whilst we got breakfast, which Lizzy wasn't happy about. They asked me about school and my interests, and where I'm from. They were sweet but I feel guilty that I don't see them how Lizzy does.

Yesterday, though, I did get scarily close to saying something I shouldn't on impulse. I think it was just a moment of weakness so I won't think anything of it - I was shaking on her bed after all.

But right now, Laf's really ruining my mood.

"No, you're the bitch. You did a bitchy thing"

"You're about to do it back to me, aren't you?" I reaffirm, making her realise her contradiction

"Oh shut up." She says, powerlessly. I smile "no don't smile. What you did wasn't good"

"Please, dad loves you more than me anyway, I'm sure he was very grateful of the time spent with you."

"What makes you say that?" Her tone changes. She's kind of tilting her head empathetically. Our argument is over.

"Med school" I pause "we argue more when he's here, don't we?"

"Yeah. We shouldn't let that be the case"

"No, we absolutely shouldn't." I shake my head a little.

"He's gonna talk to you about that today though I think." She plays with the hair that falls down the side of my face "you look nice"

"Thanks, you too.. Talk to me about what?" I ask

"The med school thing. Anyway, I'm going out. I feel crazy in this house when he's in it" she hugs me "I love you"

"I love you too" I hug her tight until we pull away. She means so much to me. Dad being here really highlights that.

"Your hair smells good"

"Thanks, I showered this morning and used Lizzy's shower stuff" I tell her, proud that Lizzy likes me enough to have me use her house as I would my own.

"Did you shower alone?" She kinda smirks, I 'shhh' her in case dad's around. "That's dirty, Marina.."

"You're just jealous. And I presume you're going to your boyfriends house so you really have no room to talk" I smile, she rolls her eyes at me

"I'll be back later. Good luck with dad"

"Thank you. Have fun with your boyfriend" I say, she smiles a little
