Rose's  POV.

Ugh! Why is my back is so stiff? Slowly opening my eyes I found the reason. I was lying on Vika's dorm room floor under a mountain of blankets. My discomfort must have woken me as I never wake before my alarm. Hell, I had to set 6 of them because I sleep through the first three. Failing that, Claxton knocks on my door at 7.

After I had told Vika everything that happened last night she went on a tangen, wanting to do everything from calling Dimitri to kicking Claxton's arse herself. It was well past 1am before I extracted her promise that she won't tell Dimitri anything until I can talk to him and we settled down to sleep. Vika was still softly snoring from her bed.

My back throbbed in protest as I rolled on my side and sat up. 6:50am. My alarm is due to go off any minute and my long day of school shall start. Thank God it's Friday! Usually Claxton escorts me to the dinning hall for breakfast but I'm not sure what he will do today after my rejection last night. All things aside, he was a good Guardian and I can't imagine him not reporting for duty. Slipping out from under all the blankets, I sat at Vika's vanity table and attempted to brush through my horrendously tangled hair.

As I expected, there was a tentative knock on the door a few seconds after  07:00am. Vika sat straight up in her bed, instantly awake. To my amusement, she pressed a finger to her lips as she detangled herself from her covers and stepped towards the door.

"Who is it?" She called but I already knew. I looked down and straightened my clothes as Vika opened the door to reveal the very man I suspected. "Oh Guardian Claxton. What can I do for you?"

"Novice Belikov, I've come to assort Novice Mazur to breakfast." Claxton replied, he was the picture of professionalism and thats what made it weird.

"I'll-" I started.

"I will assort Novice Mazur to breakfast." Vika said firmly, cutting me off. "I've been a student here for many years and Russian is my native tongue, she won't need the assistance of a interpreter until our first class.".

I could barely stop myself from laughing. Her firm tone and determined frown was the exact one her brother wore. There will be no arguing with her. Full stop.

Claxton seemed a little taken back by Vika forcefulness and quickly recovered himself. "Novice Mazur, is that ok with you?" He didn't look at me.

"I will be fine Claxton. I will see you after breakfast." With a tight nod at me, he turned on the spot and headed back down the hallway.

"I think he got the 'back off' memo." Vika giggled, shutting the dorm door.

"Well you did give him his marching orders." I giggled back.

"Pleasssse, if he finds me intimidating he is going to shit himself when Dimka has words with him." She smirked, pulling a large hoodie over her workout clothes.

"Ugh, he is going to flip out isn't he." I groan, pulling on my own clothes. "I'm hoping he will be more lenient now it's kinda blown over."

Vika let out a very unattractive snort."My brother, lenient? Just before he moved to Russia he met Sonya's ex Dhampir boyfriend and  threatened to break every bone in his body is he ever upset her. They had only been dating two weeks and only last another two afterwards. Probably a good thing though, he was kinda weedy."

"Really?" My Comrade? The Guardian known for his calm and level headedness?

"Are you shocked? He has always been overprotective." She bent to pack her bag and I heard her mutter, "ever since he beat up our father," under her breath.

Of course! Randell was a terrible father and partner to the Belikov family. No wonder he was over protective of the people he cared about.

"Just let me have a front row seat when you tell Dimka that Claxton tried to force himself on you."
