Rose's POV

"How's it going Little Dhampir?" Adrian asked, with what seemed genuine concern.

"Having the time of my life." I snapped back, glaring at him as he sat down in front of me.

I had arrived at court three days ago but it feels more like three years. The night I arrived I was taken to a annexe apartment, next to Court's laboratory. Compared to my plain dorm room back at the academy, my new lodgings were enormous and decorated with bright rich colours. With a large sitting room, king-size bedroom and an ensuite bathroom, the lodgings was one of the grandest places I have ever stayed.

I had pulled off my shoes and socks as soon as I walked through the door, loving the feeling of the deep, plush carpet between my toes. I had then walked barefoot into the bedroom to find a king-size bed, covered in feather duvets and set with a ridiculous amount of decoration pillows. The only complaint I had about the place, was the fact there wasn't any windows.

Adrian had stayed with me that night, sharing a pizza and watched a movie, before he crash out on the sofa. I would never admit it, but his presence that first night had comforted me.

The next morning, just after he left, I was taken to a lab three doors away from my lodgings and the tests started. Two Doctors and two nurses had been assigned to my case. None of them talked freely to me, it was like I was beneath them, nothing more than a lab rat. I was only spoken to when they had a question or a request.

Apart from being ignored, my first day wasn't to bad, I just had basic observations gathered, routine bloods taken and a general fitness test. Today they wanted a neurological exam, respiratory assessment and a lumbar puncture. Which is how I now find myself, lying on my side as a doctor sticks a needle into my spine, watching Adrian drink from a coffee cup.

"Well, I bring news." Adrian declared before taking a long swig.

If I didn't have a massive needle currently embedded in my spine, I would of jumped onto Adrian and shook him hard, until he spilt all of this findings. Instead I simply stated at him imploringly.

"What?" I begged.

"Well I had a nice little chat with our new friend. She said they are doing well. He misses you."

I let out a heavy breath. I was desperate to ask Adrian more detailed questions but I was unable to talk freely in front of the doctor.

The night I was rescued from my coffin, I had told Adrian what had happened to me and he filled in the gaps that happened since the night of the attack. After he had told me more about Dimitri's reallocation, I had begged Adrian to dream walk him, to find out if he was safe.

"You didn't get through to him then?" I asked, conscious that my every word will be reported.

"No, but I got through to his friend instead." Adrian smirked at me, with a lifted eyebrow.

"How did that go?" I teased.

On the first night at Court, Adrian had tried to dream walk Dimitri but was unable to do so. Adrian had explained that when he pulls someone into a shared dream, it feels like he is pulling someone through water, weightless and little resistance. When he tried to pull Dimitri, he said it felt like he was pulling him through cement, heavy and with alot of resistance. Once Adrian had managed to get the dream connected and started to speak, Dimitri had realised what was going on. Dimitri pulled himself out of the shared dream and since then, he has somehow managed to block Adrian.
