Reconnecting. Chapter 35

Rose's POV

Dimitri just staring at me as still as a statue and not uttering a single word. I couldn't get a read on his expression other than complete shock. When I imagined his reaction to the discovery we could have a child together in the future, I never one thought he would freeze.

In fact I don't recall him ever freezing to anything. Wasn't that one of the first lessons he taught me? Don't hesitate.

Maybe he didn't want to have children? No, that's not true. That was one of the main reasons Tasha's offer was so appealing to him. Well maybe he just didn't want kids with me?

Before I could work myself up into a Hathaway hissy fit, I tried to break through to him.

Reaching up, I gently stroked the side of his face. "Comrade?" I counted to ten before saying his name again. "Comrade?" The worry in my voice was evident.

When he didn't move or respond, I sadly closed my eyes and let a long slow breath.

"Roza." It was barely a whisper but I snapped my eyes open.

I was shocked to find the amount of longing in his eyes and his hopefully smile.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I dare hope we could have a child of our own in the future." He whispered softly, lovingly brushing his thumb over my bottom lip. "But here you are, offering me everything I ever wanted."

"You're pleased?" I asked tentatively.

"Roza. I'm ecstatic!" He grinned, pulled me to him.

I giggled loudly as he smothered my face in kisses, relief then pure bliss flooding through me.

Deepening the kiss once more, Dimitri slowly rolled me onto my back.

"Thrilled as I am, I don't think we are ready for a vast just yet." He whispered into my ear. "But I am definitely up for some practice."

"Mmm Comrade." I moan expectantly. "Practice is definitely what we need." I add, rolling to my side to retrieve a condom from my side draw.

Dimitri POV

I felt relaxed. More relaxed than I have felt in years in fact. Finding out that Rose could carry my child in the future was a massive shock but the more I thought about it the more it gave me peace. On some level, I had hated that I wouldn't be able to give Rose a child. Yes, she was to young to be thinking about that yet and yes there were other options like adoption and sperm donation. No matter how we built a family, I would love them with all my heart. But I would be lying if I didn't admit I despised that our race couldn't conceive together. I want to give Rose the world and now finding out I can now give her the one thing I thought was impossible was in powering. We needed to talk about it in more detail, along with many other things, but knowing we are due to attend dinner with Abe, we were just content with each others company.

For the last hour and a half, Rose and I had worshipped one another. Through kisses and soft touches we explored every inch of the other, memorising every little detail, every perfect flaw.

When we both had our fill, we made sweet love. Slow, pure love making. It was everything it need to be after so many months apart. The intimacy being more important than the act itself.
