Lissa's POV"Rose." As soon as my whisper left my lips, Rose's features became more focused to me, like a fog had lifted.
I stood rooted to the spot as I watched Rose and Adrian sink a bottle of champagne. I hitched a breath in my chest, as a wave of emotions rushed over me; Joy, relief, happiness, love, confusion, betrayal.
She really is alive and Adrian clearly knew! How is it even possible? Why hasn't she told me?
'Rose?' I tentatively sent through the bond.
I watched her sit up straighter and throw a confused glance over her shoulder. Her eyes quickly scanned the room, but she didn't see me as Christian and some Moroi girl he was talking to, were shielding me from view. Adrian looked up at Rose and asked her a question, to which she just shook of her head and downed another glass of Champagne. However, her reaction confirmed it for me. Rose was alive and our bond was still intact.
I was about to call her through the bond again but changed my mind. No, I want to talk to her in person, besides alcohol has always dulled the bond.
My heart was pounding hard against my chest as I stood up straight and rolled back my shoulders. I had only managed one step forward when a arm slipped around my waist.
"Lissa, there is someone here you just have to meet." Christian gushed in my ear.
"Not right now, Christian. There is something I have to do." I told him, gently pulling his arm away. "You won't believe.....".
"No! Lissa. You have to meet her!"Christian growled back at me, but not loud enough that we could be over heard.
He reached out and grabbed my wrist with enough force that I let out a little yelp. I looked between his tightening hand and his eyes in disbelief. He has never been aggressive to me, let alone physically abusive.
"What are you doing? You are hurting me!" I hissed back at him, again not loud enough for us to be over heard.
"You will come and meet her." He simply replied, starting to pull me outside.
I glanced up at Rose's table, to see Adrian all but past out and Rose not to far behind him. Turning back towards Christian, I tried to pull my arm out of his grip but he just tighten his hold. Something wasn't right. This wasn't Christian.
"Fine, I will meet your friend." I answered him.
Like someone one had flicked a switch, Christian released my arm and gave me a megawatt smile.
"She is waiting outside. You will love her!" He grinned and continued to lead me outside.
What is going on? Something isn't right. Looking at Christian in closer detail, I willed his aura to reveal itself to me. Because Christian has been my test subject for many hours of practice, I knew his aura better than anyone's. His aura was normally a mixture of oranges and blues with a hints of red. Even though all those colours were still dancing around his aura, they seemed to be dulled by a over powering gold colour. I have never seen this colour around Christian before, in fact the only person who I have seen gold in their aura is in Adrian's when he uses spirit.
Oh my goodness! Christian must be under a spirit user compulsion! I tentatively continued to follow Christian but once we were out of the crowd I searched for Guardian Feith, my new appointed Guardian. I let out a breath of relief, when I saw him following me from the side of the room.
We headed to the exact table, Christian, Tasha and I were gathered around earlier. Sitting in the chair facing me was a young Moroi woman, around 20 years old, with a Guardian standing behind her left shoulder. Christian pulled my chair out for me when we reached the table. I graciously perched on my chair, stealing a quick glance at Guardian Feith, who was only ten paces away, when I turned my head to give Christian my thanks.
