"Well?" Adrian asked again.
"Negative." I whimpered as my eyes filled with tears once again.
Adrian just stared at me, trying to read my aura to get a gauge of my emotions.
"Are you sure?" He asked, I could tell he had no idea what to say.
"Yes, they are both negative." I replied holding up the tests.
"How do you feel about that?" He inquired as he awkwardly shifted his weight between his feet, clearly out of his depth.
Throwing the tests into the waste basket, I felt another sob rattle out of my chest.
"Why am I grieving for something I never had?" I weeped, losing the last of the control I had over my emotions.
"Shhhh, Rose, it will be ok." He soothed, pulling me into another hug and softly stroking my hair. "Being pregnant is not what you need right now. Your life is currently rather unpredictable. But when things settle down, you and the Big Guy can have as many Little Russian Dhampirs as you want."
"Little Russian Dhampirs?" I snorted, as I smiled and wiped my tears from my eyes.
"Yup, your children will get their Little Dhampir-ness from you and their Russian-ness from him." He explained with a smirk. " The Little Russian Dhampirs killing machines."
I playfully punched his shoulder and laughed as I pulled away from him.
"You know, under all the drinking, manwhoring and knob head attitude, you are actually a decent person." I said as I patted his face and giving him a genuine smile.
"Ummm thanks, I think that's a complement." He laughed and pushed my hand away. "Just don't tell anyone, I have a reputation to keep."
"Who am I going to tell?" I batted my eyelashes innocently. "All the guests I have?"
"Please. I bet you a hundred bucks, you have escaped here and reunited with Belikov within 6 months." He chuckled as he rised an eyebrow.
"I have no such plans." I challenged with a smug smile, placing my hands on my hips.
"Yet." He replied, crossing his arms and grinned knowingly.
I glared at him. I was being half honest, I have no active plans to escape. But that didn't mean I wasn't scoping out the place. Fine. One : Nil to Adrian.
"Why don't you want people to see the real you?" I asked, changing the subject.
Triumphant flashed across his features but it was quickly replaced with a look of confliction.
"Apart from Tatiana, none of my friends or family are aware of my Spirit abilities. Aunty Tati and I, believed it was to dangerous for the others to know." He explained softly, as he dragged a hand through his hair. "I manage the effects of darkness with 'the drinking, manwhoring and a knob head attitude,' but I also hide behind the facade so no-one can get close to me. If they saw me for me, they would find out that I am different. And different is dangerous in our world."
"Adrian.." I started but he cut me off.
"That's why I am so glad I met you and Lissa. I don't have to act around you. I may have only known you a little while, but I already feel like you are my best friend." He added, as he places his hands on my shoulders.
"And here I thought you just wanted to get into my panties!" I joked.
Stupid! Why don't I have a Brain-Mouth filter. Here Adrain is, pouring out his heart and I am just standing here making jokes. Peaking up at Adrian, I saw that he looked alittle shocked but the his laugh bellowed out from him.
