The sun began to set— pushing the woman further. Her arms and legs ached, but her heart hurt too much to stop even for just a short break.

Her small figure maneuvered through the numerous people that crowded the streets of Seoul— each of their eyes burning her skin as if a reminder of how out of place she looked. Rinyoung couldn't bring herself to even care about their lingering sights.

All those years of being forced into track paid off. She thought, brushing pass shoulders, bodies and anything else that stood between her.

As the day dimmed into evening, the air began to thicken and fall further in temperature. Gusts of air rippled through her dark locks, as the chilly breeze grazed her skin as if ice delicately drew consistent lines on her body.

However, she didn't stop.

Even when the daily spring downpour began to crash down onto her. The pattering of the raindrops against her skin sounded as drums— going at the same pace of her heart beat.

There were shrieks and squeals from the sudden rain— people rushing to get their umbrellas out or running towards any sort of shelter. Rinyoung continued sprinting.  Her heavy steps splashed puddles— wetting her gown and body just as much as the heavy pour did.

Her whole body felt exhausted. Her soaked hair and clothes weighed her down with the help of the bricks of guilt and desperation on her frail shoulders.

Everything in the world in those moments wanted her to fail.

Mother nature wanted her to stop. The gusts of wind whispered to her to slow down, breathe, and take it easy. The rain tried to physically force her down. Pushing her to fall as at times she skidded at the slippery pavement that stood below the soles of her tired feet.

Others tried to stop her. They yelled at her, asking if she was insane. "Hey, kid! Get out of the rain!" One shouted from their car. Briefly she glanced his way, smiled for a second before continuing to run.

"You're gonna get sick!" A woman yelled in concern, waving at the younger to stop.

For once in her life, Rinyoung chose for herself.

She chose him, and no matter what she was gonna get to him.

Adrenaline rushed throughout her entire being— spotting the same apartment she imagined herself building a home in.

. . .

Her hair clung to her face as the clinical gown hugged every inch of her body. Rinyoung's feet finally stopped— the upper half of her body soon catching up with the sudden halt— toppling over as she aggressively gulped down oxygen. She looked crazy. Strands of hair falling in front of her soft features, legs shaky with exhaustion and feet bleeding from the constant scraping of her soles against the concrete.
